From beats that make me want to get up and dance to lyrics that give me chills, music has its own ways of healing. What takes the cake for me though is the violin, how peaceful and beautiful they sound no matter what’s being played still blows me away. I was in 3rd grade when I first picked up a violin and I haven’t put it down since. I wish I could put into words how free I feel just sitting and playing to bring my inner peace back. Something that I truly love is that you’re never done learning or hit a wall for sharpening your skills. One of my favorite things to do is explore and investigate abandoned places so I’ve adventured to lots of different ghost towns. Looking at photos of what used to be there and learning how things used to function compared to where they are now is very cool to compare. It also dives into different parts of history and that’s a subject that I could go on about for hours. Being outside and in the mountains or at a lake I personally find to be little slices of heaven. Camping is definitely one of my favorite things to do but one thing that really calms me and hits my soul is fishing. My dad taught me when I was a little girl, with being a daddy’s girl I used it as a way for us to bond and spend time together. Over the years some of my best memories and wise advice given come from fishing trips with him. Even just going to a close little fishing pond watching the sun go down after a long day has been therapy for me more times then I can count. I absolutely love everything about being in the kitchen. Cooking, baking or even just eating the deliciousness. I really like the feeling that comes from someone enjoying something I’ve prepared for them. I first started cooking with my mom and grandma when I was young, laughing with them while they taught me different recipes was the best. One thing my grandma always told me was “mide con tu corazon mija (measure with your heart honey)” and it’s still how I cook to this day. Each new recipe is a different adventure and I really enjoy when I get to share that with someone else. My family is the most important thing to me and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for them. Making tamales during Christmas, family reunions, the angel of hope gathering and bottling up the garden at the end of season are all some of my favorite traditions my family has. My favorite one would definitely have to be decorating my sister headstone every year for her birthday. Her birthday is October 29th and we are a huge Halloween loving family so as you can see we try to go all out for her. This day is always so special to me and I love every second I get to spend with my entire family.
