📍ADAB IN SEEKING KNOWLEDGE

First of all, what is adab ?

Generally, adab is a good manners towards others or anything.

Imam Malik (رحمه الله) once told a young boy from the tribe of Quraysh: “You need to learn etiquette (adab) before you acquire knowledge"

Thus, we need to learn manners before sacred knowledge.

☆Adab in seeking knowledge

• Set the right intention when learning

  -learn for the sake of Allah

  -learn out of love for knowledge and not merely for excellent grades

  -learn because you want to become someone who will be beneficial to others in the future

• Surah Al-Bayyinah {5}

  وَمَآ اُمِرُوْٓا اِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مُخْلِصِيْنَ لَهُ الدِّيْنَ ەۙ حُنَفَاۤءَ وَيُقِيْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكٰوةَ وَذٰلِكَ دِيْنُ الْقَيِّمَةِۗ

  This passage emphasizes the core principles of worship in Islam: sincerity to Allah, regular prayer, and giving charity.

• Praying according to the Sunnah [adab in dua']

  -opening dua' ( selawat upon the Prophet Muhammad SAW )

  -specific dua'

  -closing ( glorify, praise, magnify Allah SWT )

• Dua' + endeavor + istiqomah + reliance on God

• Always feeling oneself lacking in knowledge

📍AL-QURAN AS BOOK OF GUIDANCE

Al-Quran is a guide to the right path for all mankind. All matters are already written in Quran.

☆Al-Quran as book of guidance

• Surah Al-Isra' {9-21}

-(9) A verse in the Al-Quran that emphasizes that Al-Quran is the true guidance and gives glad tidings to those who believe and do moral actions.

-In this context, Al-Quran invites Muslims to follow its guidance and do good deeds, with the promise of a great reward for those who adhere to its teachings.

• Never neglect Al-Quran

-Always read it, even if just once a day.

-Make Al-Quran as your companion in daily life.

-Prevent the tongue from speaking harshly.

• How to interact with Al-Quran ?

- (i) Read Al-Quran everyday.

- (ii) Understand the translation and content of Al-Quran.

- (iii) Memorizing Surah especially the Surah in juz 30.

-(iv) Read with correct Tajweed.

The most important and famous hadith in Islam is the Hadith of Jibreel (as) .The hadith tells the story of Jibreel (as) when he came to the Prophet Muhammad SAW to ask him questions about Islam, Iman, Ihsan and The Hour. Jibreel (as) replied to all Muhammad SAW's answers by saying "You have spoken truly."

ISLAM

"The pillar of a house" { if one collapses, all will collapse }

1) Testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger (Shahada)

• distinguishing between Muslims and non-Muslims

• the main requirement for someone to embrace Islam

• the total number of times a Muslim recites the Shahada in a day is 9 times, not including other acts of worship ( possibly during prayers or other specific moments )

2) Perform prayer

• the key to everything

• showing obedience and gratitude to Allah

• expressing thankfulness for His blessings

• prayer is for erasing sins and increasing sustenance

3) Fast during Ramadan

• able to control one’s desires from ;

  -eat and drink

  -speak inappropriately

  -engage in activities that are not beneficial

• teach human to be grateful and moderate

• "Happiness is simple and modest"

4) Pay the Zakah

• maintaining social needs

• help people who are in needs

• cleanse the soul as learn to share things

• "Our money is others money too"

5) Perform Hajj to the House

• ( if able to do so )

• seeking to strengthen one's relationship with Allah

• teach us about Islam

IMAN

All Muslims have their own faith. al-Baqarah {284-286)

1) Believe in Allah

• Allah the greatest creator.

  ( the King of all kings )

2) Believe in His angels

• angels convey the message of Allah

3) Believe in His Messengers

• believe they are spreading and conveying teaching

4) Believe in His Books

• Quran as a guidance

• everything is in the Quran

5) Believe in the Day of Judgment

• remind oneself not to commit sins

6) Believe in Qada' and Qadar

• believe that everything that happens has a reason and wisdom

IHSAN

"You should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet (know that) He sees you."

1) Seeking for Allah's kindness by doing worship

• wear clean and neat clothes

  - more fully appreciate worship

  - so that Allah sees our sincerity

  - so that our prayers are accepted

THE HOUR

"The time of reckoning"

• the number of women is greater compared to men

To summarize ;

As Muslims, we should take lessons from this Hadith of Jibreel and be more attentive to the deeds as provisions for the Hereafter. Continually refining one's acts of worship and making an effort to perfect them in accordance with religious teachings.

Rukun Iman

-emphasize the top aspect of the Rukun Iman (Articles of Faith)

Belief in Allah: The belief in the oneness of God. Allah is the only deity and creator of the universe, and nothing else is worthy of worship. (foundation of Islam)

• TAUHID | -uluhiyyah

  -asma wa sifat

  -rububiyyah

• TAUHID ULUHIYYAH

  -Affirming the oneness of Allah in the actions of the servant means that we, as servants, should worship only Allah and not direct any acts of worship to anyone other than Allah.

• TAUHID ASMA WA SIFAT

  -Affirming the oneness of Allah in His names and attributes.Allah is perfect

  -Eg ;

  i) "Wujud" - Allah exists and Allah created the entire universe.

  ii) "Baqa" - Allah is eternal. Allah is everlasting, meaning there is no beginning or end.

• TAUHID RUBIYYAH

  -Affirming the oneness of Allah in His actions.

  -Surah Maryam {65}

  -Allah knows everything.

  -There is nothing comparable to Allah.

2. FAITH IN ANGELS

Belief in the existence of angels as Allah’s creation.

Belief that angels are constantly watching over the good and bad deeds of humans.

Angels are created from light.

There are angels who watch over us during gatherings of knowledge.

3. FAITH IN THE BOOKS

Belief that all divine books were revealed by Allah.

Allah guarantees that no other book is preserved except the Quran.

The Quran is preserved because it is guaranteed by Allah and easy to memorize.

The language used in the Quran is Arabic because it is a precise and eloquent language.

Why Al-Quran is important in our life ?

• Al-Quran is a manual for each Muslim in life.

• Al-Quran teach us everything and act as a guidance.

4) Belief in All of Allah’s (SWT) Messengers

• The messengers are the humans that Allah (SWT) chose to guide the people towards believing in Him and abiding by His commands.

• Follow The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW to become a true muslim.

5) Belief in the Day of Judgment & Hereafter

• The day when humans will be resurrected from their graves and will be given their book of deeds to be judged by Allah (SWT).

• Whoever has an abundance of good deeds will enter Jannah, while those who are the opposite will enter Hell.

6. Belief in the Qadhaa’ & Qadr

• Believe that everything that happens has a reason and wisdom from Allah SWT.

• Nothing happens in the sky or on Earth without Allah’s will and wish. Anything Allah wills occurs, and whatever he does not will not occur.

Ihsan ( very obligated )

• It is very important to incorporate Ihsan in life, especially as a Muslim.

• In performing acts of worship, one must be focused and sincere.

• Do all things solely for the sake of Allah.

Eschatology

1) Alam Barzakh

• The soul is questioned by Munkar and Nakir in the grave.

2) Signs of the Day of Judgment.

• small - woman more than man

• big - The Dajjal is permitted by Allah to rule the world.

3) The Day of Resurrection and Reckoning.

• Deeds are weighed to determine whether one goes to Jannah or Jahannam.

♡ The relationship between Ihsan and eschatology.

• mutually strengthen

• preparing every believer with provisions for the Hereafter.

• Always feel that Allah is present and sees us.

1) Adab towards neighbors

• Islam emphasizes good relations with neighbours.

  - greet one another

  - Respect the customs and celebrations of each ethnic group

2) Adab towards society

• feeds & give clean water

• have mercy on it

• save them if they are in danger

< environment >

• do not litter everywhere

• do not vandalism

• take care of plants well

3) Adab towards parents

♡ Parents are the person closest to us

• -obey with parents instructions

  - if parents told to do bad things then as a child we need to deny it in very respectful speech.

• Always pray for parents

  - everytime or every solat

  - ask for well-being for parents

• Do not talk back

  - Do not raise your voice

4) Adab in seeking knowledge

• Set the right intention for the sake of Allah

• Respect teacher / lecturer

• Maintain humanity ( be humble )

• Be passion and patience

• Be grateful ( syukur )

• Sharing knowledge

IMPORTANCE ❓️❓️

- Developing a positive personality

- Strengthening relationship among Allah's creations

- There exists a feeling of love and affection between humankind

- Help strengthen faith (iman) by maintaining proper etiquette with Allah

- Enhancing effectiveness in studies
