The first thing I have ever really heard about writing to learn would be recently in my ISP field. I asked what they were talking about when they told the students to do "write to learn". For them, it is a program (I think online) that helps students will grammar and also helps them know if their writing is "strong" or "weak" on a scale of 0 - maybe 5. I am not sure if it goes to 5 but I was watching a little boy and his was 2 because he only had a paragraph. I am not sure what else there is to do about it, I just picked up on small little things. I would like to know the scale and how the program knows the scale. For example, if it is made by the teacher or the program or if it can be personalized for each student. I would like to know more. As far as learning about "writing to learn" in past classes, I can't really remember learning it any other time but if we had, it probably would have been in one of Prof. White's classes.

It reminds me of one of my college literature classes in which my professor MADE us write comments in our novels. At first it was frustrating, but after a while it was like I was conversing with the author and it helped me not only pay more attention but it also made me think more deeply.

It could also mean writing what they know like a pre-assessment.

I have not learned much about writing to learn. When I think of writing to learn, it makes me think that it is similar to reading to learn. I'm guessing that writing to learn is a higher stage of writing than learning to write. Writing to learn helps students build on their thoughts.

I do not think that I have ever heard of the term "writing to learn". It sounds like something that could be very beneficial for students in their early to middle years of school. Maybe an example of "writing to learn" that I have done before, is creating a concept map of a certain subject before I read or learned anything about that subject.

It would be hard if it was something like just copying down facts. Maybe adding to this facts with your own knowledge
