The word I chose was happiness. I chose this word because it describes the first chapter well, for the most part. In this chapter it talks about Daisy being paralyzed with happiness, and she often conveys a warm, and happy feeling. I chose the phrase “an absolute rose” because it is Daisy talking about Nick. Daisy loves her cousin Nick very much, and you can obviously tell she was very happy to see him, and missed him. I chose the sentence “I love to see you at my table, Nick. You remind me of a rose, an absolute rose.”, because it is an example of how happy Daisy was to see Nick.

I chose the word “Blazing” because it is used to describe Nick and how he thought his house was on fire, but then he realized it was just Gatsby's house lit up, but oddly without a party. I chose the phrase “I’m going to call up Daisy to-morrow and invite her over here to tea” because Gatsby wants to meet Daisy but doesn’t want her to find out he planned it, so he’s having Nick do it. I chose the sentence “I don’t want to put you to any trouble.” because it shows Gatsby’s feelings. He’s trying to hide his embarrassment, and also be genuine towards Nick for the kind act that he is doing.

I chose the word “Endless”. I chose this work because it describes a couple different things like, the endless phone calls, the endless flashes of the cameras, and the endless questions about Gatsby’s death. I chose the phrase “...used the expression “madman” as he bent over Wilson’s body...” because it shows that Gatsby got murdered by someone who was not sane, and that is why he did it. I also chose this phrase because they are using him being a “madman” as an excuse for Wilson murdering somebody. I chose the sentence “I found myself on Gatsby’s side, and alone.”. I chose this because Nick was the only one who truly new Gatsby. He knew how he treated people, and because of that he stood up for him and understood that the way everyone was making him out out be wasn’t true. Nick was the only person who truly knew, and understood Jay.
