Also known as Decidous forests (meaning leaf-shedding) these biomes exerpience all 4 seasons of the year: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. 
These forests are either Coniferous, or Decidious - meaning vegetation is composed of cone-bearing and needle-leaved and scale-leaved evergreen trees, or a forest in which leaves are shedded annually, and much softer. This contributes to the amoung of nutrients contrain within the soil that was once absorbed by the leaves. And since the immense rainfall, the overall enviornment is pretty wet - resulting to fertile soil. Leaves dominate temperate forests, not pine needles. The trees lose their leaves every Winter, and seal up their branches. They fall into a deep sleep in effort to survive the cold. During the Summer their green leaves capture a lot of sunlight to produce enough chlorpyll. 
  Temperate Forests are made up of 5 different zones: 1) Tree Stratum Zone - tallest tree zone. Trees within this zone range from 60 to 100 feet tall. 2) Small Tree & Sapling Zone - consisting of younger and smaller trees. 3) Shrub Zone - made up of shrubs, mountain laurel, and other minor plants. 4) Herb Zone - herbal plants, etc. 5) Ground Zone - this zone is where plants grow directly near the ground (like lichens and mosses). 
The animals within this enviornment cope with cold Winters, and hot Summers. During Winter, most animals either hibernate, or migrate to avoid the harsh Winter (below freezing). Black Bears hibernate during the winter, and have a thick coat consisting of fur to cope with the weather. They have long nails to help them climb the tall trees, and pick their berries. Due to their beautiful weather, nutrient-filled soil, long growing season, and annual rainfall, these biomes serve as a perfect location of agricultural production. Together, we can save the enviornment and these biomes.
