Search: I made a couple of searches for "human skin" and "civil war" using the search bar. I used the Advanced Search option to search "conjoined twin." I found SyrsiDynix extremely easy to navigate, use, and understand. The drop downs to narrow the search are straightfoward. It does feature faceted navigation allowing search results to be limited by collection, subject, author/creator, date, type, and language. The default sort is by relevance, but can be changed to date, title, or author.
Browse: There is no browsing feature available.

While searching "autopsy," the system found 151 results that included multiple types and languages. Of the pages I viewed, all items appeared to be of relevancy to my query, either about autopsy or containing the word within the title.

While searching, the search bar remains static, with the entire header staying in place regardless of page type within the system. The display continues to carry the title, a home icon, search bar and drop downs, personal features, accommodations, and help access. The search bar is easily located at the top of the screen so it is easy to find, as are all the features that become available after conducting a search including: limit search results, pages, sorting, and actions. The home page features information on scheduling research appointments as the library does not have open stacks. It also offers links to the library's website, as well as the catalogs for the Digital Library and Archives. There are no RSS Feeds or complete social media integration. A widget for the Twitter account is featured, but to access links for YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, one has to visit the library website. If one wants to access the catalog via mobile phone, the return is mobile compatibility, but there is not a mobile version of the site.

The links for names and subject headings link to other associated results with the same focus. I searched "epidemiology" which led to results containing the word in either the title or subject. The subjects led me to "microbiology" and then "immunology." The assigned identifiers and headings are relevant and link appropriately within similar topics.

SyrsiDynix's search is not entirely intuitive. Misspelled words are underlined in red while the search results are autocorrected. There is no autocomplete, list of previously used words, or suggestions. The help feature is located on the static header and is accessed by clicking the "?" within a circle icon. The page contains commonly asked questions that are broken down into contents that provide directions, links, and screenshots for assistance. There is not an option to ask a question and search answers. It is noted that if you cannot find what you are looking for to ask a librarian, though there is no "ask a librarian" live virtual service. In order to find a librarian's contact, you must navigate back to the home page for staff emails.

When navigating a selected item, it is easy to locate information and perform actions. The selected result features include: Name, Author, Publication, Description, Note, Subject Term, and Language. The Author and Subject Term offer viable and relevant links. Actions include the ability to Place Hold, Add to List, Print the record, or to email or text a permanent link. Those two options are the only way to obtain a persistent link. Checking availability is an option, as well as viewing resources related to the author or similar subjects and concepts. There is no enriched content as the interface does not include book cover or item images, reviews, or any user-driven input.
