It's purpose was to keep the balance of free to slave states.
2 The Missouri Compromise did not last because some states wanted to be free that were below the line.
3 California was admitted as a free state, slave trade topped in DC, New Mexico and Utah were open to chose, and the Fugitive State Law was outlawed.
4 It's purpose was to take the place of the Missouri Compromise.
5 The Fugitive State Law was a law that stated everyone could not help escaped slaves. The Missouri Compromises purpose was to keep the peace/ balance between slave and free states.
2. No, because it keep the balance but it didn't solve the actual issue on slavery. Also some states below the line wanted to be free and some states above the line wanted to be slave.
