This step-mother was not happy that Cinderella was prettier than her own two daughters, so she treated her poorly. The story takes place near the Nile River. Just like the original, the youngest servant is "Rhodopis" (Cinderella), who is treated much more poorly than the other servants. She ends up losing a slipper and the Pharaoh (the prince) seeks to find her. 

The Native American version is quite different on the other hand. Instead of using a slipper, the prince finds his wife by searching for a woman who can see him. Most girls, like the oldest daughters of the chief would lie to say they could see him when they couldn't so he wouldn't show himself to marry them.
