I noticed the chat PDF summarizes texts, which could prevent close readings of texts. In my experiment, one of the summaries was not accurate in its discussion of a text's argument. I'm concerned how this tool will be used to skip the process of reading. (I'm sure there are positive aspects too, but that was my first thought!)

I like that chat PDF help us to summarize texts in an initial moment, anyway I think it is important to know that we need to go in deep in those texts, and prepare very well the questions that we want to ask the AI to explore better the texts.

Upon looking into and using ChatPDF, I noticed that by providing prompt questions based on the PDF, it could potentially lead to negatively impact students critical thinking and reasoning skills as they would begin to rely on AI rather than asking themselves these questions. However, I did notice that if prompted, chatPDF can break down the difficult concepts and terminology for better understanding of the article.

On this session, there were four tools addressed, three of them were already introduced. These tools are: ChatPDF, Paddlet, OnlineNotebook, and Process Feedback. The main concern we shared was that they might be inhibiting the students' mental process involved when reading or when writing. Specially because some students might avoid reading the whole paper when using the ChatPDF.

ONe of the cons is that the report produced involves lots of statistics and graphs that might not be clear for all the teachers that might use this tool. In contrast, one of the pros is that we can write in collaboration, track the students, send and receive feedback even without seeing the tutor in person. This is also possible when writing and sharing Docs on Drive.

In general, there is some agreement about the negative points of the AI Tools. So, we need to continue exploring them to know how they work, how the students can use them in a way that the students also do their work, and use them just to mediate rather than to generate all the work. We will need to conduct empirical research on them.

I find Chat PDF a useful tool for me as a student because at the BA program we need to read several articles in order to write an essay and sometimes I get lost with all the information, even when I use to underline the most important information, frequently I need to read the article more than once in order to understand it better. this is why I find Chat PDF very useful because I can focus on specific questions after reading the all article.
