The tight curly hair does not move much, but it is predominant. The strong, vibrant Puerto Rican sun smacks his tan skin as he treats to his farm animals. Miguel only knows hard work. He only knows what it means to be the best in something. Miguel once told me that his father had to leave for one week and that Miguel would have to take care of the farm and the animals all by himself. He did this with no regret, no excuses, and did it to the best of his abilities. When his dad came back, his father was so impressed with how Miguel was able to manage things and run the farm by himself. Miguel applies this ambition to all aspects of his life. While at Gannon, he used his ambitious and hard working behavior to graduate at the top of his class and he became a prospect for the MLB while posting some serious stats for the baseball team. He broke 4 school records for the baseball team and was an All-American for 3 seasons. He told me that he learned hard work through growing up on a farm, where working is non-stop, all day, every day. He also found his dedication to play baseball back in Puerto Rico. As you may know, baseball is sewed into the culture of Puerto Rico, it is a part of everyday life. He grew up on fields that were not in the best condition, fields that had been neglected and not taken care of. He played 2^nd base for the New York Yankees, his childhood dream. Miguel lived out his life to fullest by abiding to one concept he never ever forgets, hard work. After his retirement from the MLB, Miguel’s hard work and effort did not stop there. He used his high-quality education from Gannon University to create a company that uses hand-built robots to machine and build unique items. He made sure that his two children, Juan and Gracie knew how to work hard, just like their Dad. Juan told me that, "Dad is my role model and has taught me everything I know. I learn something new from him everyday. He is the best Dad I could have ever asked for."
