"The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank is a poignant account of her experiences as a Jewish teenager in hiding during the Holocaust. Anne, along with her family and several others, went into hiding in a secret annex in Amsterdam to evade the Nazis during World War II. In her diary, which she named "Kitty," Anne candidly wrote about her daily life in confinement, her relationships with her family members and the other occupants of the annex, and her thoughts and emotions.

Anne's diary reflects her deep longing for freedom, her frustrations with the restrictions of hiding, and her yearning for a normal life. She also expressed her aspirations to become a writer and her hopes for a better future. Through her writing, Anne revealed her keen observations of human nature and her reflections on her own character and behavior. She wrote about her conflicts with her mother, her close bond with her father, her sister Margot, and her budding romantic feelings for Peter, another occupant of the annex.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Anne's diary is also filled with moments of joy, laughter, and friendship. She found solace in reading, writing, and studying, and she poured her heart and soul into her diary. Her writing style is vivid, introspective, and mature beyond her years.

Tragically, in 1944, the annex was discovered, and Anne and her family were arrested and sent to concentration camps. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen in 1945, but her diary survived and was published by her father, Otto Frank, after the war. Anne's diary has since become one of the most widely read and influential accounts of the Holocaust, providing a voice to the millions of victims who perished. It serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, the power of hope, and the enduring legacy of Anne Frank's remarkable life and writing.
Bruno Batista n°9 9°C

"The Midnight Library" takes place in a small village called Bedford. Nora Seed, the main character, is a 35-year-old woman full of talents but with few achievements. Nora regrets many things in her life and feels like a disappointment, someone that has never really lived or completed anything important. In the first chapters of the book we have a small introduction to this character's life: we see how Nora lives her life, her past, her regrets, …We also see some of the small tragedies that lead her to killing herself: her cat is run over, she is fired, among others. Nora sees no meaning in her life and decides to put an end to everything. And that's where the story really begins because after her overdose what she finds is not death but a library. The Midnight Library. There, each book offers her the opportunity to re-live a different life, make different choices, correct mistakes and understand what would have happened if she had chosen a different path, if she had pursued other dreams such as: moving to Australia with her best friend, having kept her engagement, being an Olympic swimmer or a rock star... in short, if she had kept all the dreams she started, but then gave up on them. In the end what Nora will find out is if any of these lives are better than the one she was living and if it's worth it trying to live one of these other lives instead of just dying.

Novel by George Orwell. The story tells of the revolution of the animals on the Manor farm, owned by Mr. Jones.

Old Major, the most respected pig, gathers all the farm animals at night and tells them about a dream he had - his death was coming soon and he understood, then, the value of life. He immediately explains to his companions that they owe their miserable existence to the tyranny of men who, lazy and incompetent, take advantage of the work of the animals, victims of an overbearing exploitation. The Old Major incites the group not only to rebel in order to defeat the enemy, but also to sing the chant of revolt "Animals of England".

Three days later, the Old Major dies. But the revolution continues, with new leaders - the pigs Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer, who create Animalism, as a doctrinal system, with "The Seven Commandments." They expel the owner of the farm and change the name of the property to "Animal Farm". Given the stupidity and limitation of some, who cannot memorize the "Commandments," Snowball reduced them to a maxim: "Four legs, good; two legs, bad."

The regime of Animalism begins in earnest, with all the animals working in order to advance the farm - self-management encouraged animal pride. Snowball creates a list of committees to design programs for social development, education and training.

Over time, the pigs become corrupted by power. A new tyranny is then installed, under Napoleon, who starts imposing a new principle: "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."

In a demonstration of their social-political success, the pigs invite the owners of the neighboring properties to a dinner party, so that they can see the efficiency of the "Animal Farm". And they are congratulated for the success of their regime. Clover, the horse, is horrified to find that the pigs' faces can no longer be distinguished from those of the men.
Tânia Cruz Neves N°27 9°A

This book introduces us to a trip to an island paradise with the Heffleys. At the beginning of the book we have Greg, who is the protagonist, listening to a friend talk about his vacation, but Greg only finds other people's vacations interesting only if he hears disasters. Then Greg's parents see an ad and decide to go to a resort. On the way to the airport There is a lot of confusion. First Greg has to stay with his father in the car, to help him with the bags, the rest of the family, mother, Manny (younger brother) and Rodric (older brother), were already waiting for them at the entrance of the airport. Greg and his father missed the bus that was supposed to take them to the airport entrance. At the airport, he hears even more confusion, he hears a young man who removed the tapes that separated the queues, which looked like a maze, so they thought they were late because a lot of time had passed since they arrived, but in the end, the flight was delayed . when they got on the plane Greg was amazed with the 1st class and thought that was where they would spend the flight but in the end they went to the conventional or 3rd class. When they arrived at the resort it was a very repetitive phase, always crazy people doing stupid and stupid things for the "Heffleys" family. they did activities such as watching the birth of turtles and riding a banana boat. It's a comedy book that I recommend to anyone who likes mess.

The Triumph of the Pigs" is a political satire written by George Orwell in 1945. The story takes place at the Animal Farm, where animals, tired of being exploited by humans, unite and expel their owners. They create a society in which all animals are equal and work for the benefit of the group. However, over time, the pigs, led by the ambitious Napoleon, take control of the farm and begin to act like the humans they had expelled. They print propaganda, manipulate laws and use force to subdue other animals. History shows how revolution can be twisted and how corruption and greed can infiltrate any system. The book is a critique of the Soviet regime and the leaders who promoted the Russian Revolution but who ended up becoming oppressors like the Tsarists they had overthrown. In "The Triumph of the Pigs", Orwell highlights the importance of transparency, equality and justice in any society. He shows how power corrupts and how even those who fight for good causes can become tyrants if they are not careful.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. No, this is not mere antipathy. They hate each other death. When they are forced to work together, the hostility between them reaches alarming levels. Just look at her computer password, for example. Or watch him after each confrontation, while drawing mysterious symbols on the agenda. Joshua is annoyingly meticulous (to the point of always wearing the shirts in a specific sequence), and devoid of feelings. Lucy, by contrast, is funny, flashy, and eccentric (to the point of having a secret doll collection). But the bar rises even higher when a promotion is announced. Because... there is only ONE place. And only ONE of them can occupy it. If Lucy wins, she will become Joshua's boss. If Joshua wins, Lucy swears she'll resign. Now that the tension is at its peak, their behavior becomes increasingly strange. And when, in the company's elevator, they exchange a kiss capable of melting the steel walls that surround them, the doubts arise: do they really hate each other? Or will it all be a Machiavellian game? Charming, entertaining and romantic, Sally Thorne's debut novel promises to put readers in an uproar... and to yearn for hatred to turn into love!

Patroclus is the son of a king, but since he was weak his father quickly became disappointed by him. One day a tournament was held in his kingdom and a boy with blonde hair won, his father told him that if he wanted to be a real man that he needed to be like that boy.

Years later his father made him go to another island to try and marry the princess of that land, but he was still a young boy having to compete with adults that already had achievements and fame. He obviously didn’t marry the princess but he was made to make an oath, in case anything happened to the princess he had to help save her or protect her.

A few months later while playing with some dice a boy came and started making fun of him by calling him a coward, Patroclus ended up getting annoyed and hit the boy with a stone in the head, the boy ended up dying. The boy’s father, a noble, asked for vengeance for the murder of his son, and Patroclus' father decided to banish him to another kingdom feeling shame over what his son did.

He was banished to Phthia. At first he was able to make a friend or to within the boys who were also banished by their kingdoms and with the ones that wanted to become the kingdom’s warriors, but after learning that he killed someone all the others started being cold towards him. In Phthia he also met the boy who won the tournament in his home country years ago, the boy was Achilles, the prince of Phthia, the son of Tétis, there were also prophecies about him becoming the strongest warrior of his generation.

At first he ignored the boy trying not to get in his way, but after he started being ignored by the other boys, he decided to stop going to morning training. That was when Achilles looked for him and they talked a lot, that was when Achilles decided to make his companion.

Years passed and their friendship grew stronger and stronger and other feelings started to grow as well, even though Achilles mother didn’t approve. One fateful day they were having fun as usual but they got really close and Patroclus decided to kiss him, the next day his mother who knew about the kiss announced that it was time for Achilles to go training alone. Even though he was against it he still packed his things and went off with a centaur, Chiron, his future teacher. Upon learning that Patroclus got angry and decided to run away from Phthia to try and find him, thankfully Achilles predicted that and decided to wait for him.

They trained with Chiron for a few years, until Achilles father called him home, he expected it to only be a visit but it was actually to prepare for a war, thankfully before that they confessed their feelings for each other so when Achilles took to long to come back Patroclus decided to bid farewell with Chiron to try and find him.

He discovered that Achilles, trying not to go to war, went into hiding on an island. Thus Patroclus traveled there only to discover that Achilles ended up laying with the island’s king’s daughter and impregnating her. But he reveals that he was made to do that because his mother had told him that if he did it she would tell Patroclus where he is, she was lying, he also promised him that he hadn’t felt any pleasure while doing it and he only loved Patroclus. So they convinced the King to let them stay, which he did but after a few days some Odysseus and Diomedes two kings came to get people to join their army with the objective of saving a princess, Helen, who was kidnapped by the prince of Troy,Paris. Said princess was the same that Patroclus’ father had tried to make him marry and the two kings who had also been there recognized him despite the years and reminded him of his oath so he had to help, thus Achilles decides to join as well to protect his beloved.

On their way to invade Troy to save the princess Odysseus tells them that even though they are all kings and generals, the main commander will be Agamemnon, even though some of them didn’t like that they still accepted it in the end. When they were already close to Troy they saw the trojan army and realised that it would be difficult to go to land since the army was big enough to cover an entire beach, then Achilles picked up a spear and threw it it landed right into a trojan soldier and killed him, after the first trojan death they started to shoot arrows but the greek ended up suffering less losses and the trojan had to back down.

They made camp on the beach, the Phthian one being farther away in a place with shadow. The day after they were done with camp preparations they decided to make an all out attack to see if they could get the trojans to give up quickly, every man went and even though they murdered a lot of trojans it wasn’t enough to make them give up. Coming back to camp they had to divide the loot they had stolen, such as money, food and even women. In this case there was only one woman and Patroclus asked Achilles to save her since he knew what would happen if they were taken by the others.

The way they decided to try to make Troy open its doors was by raiding the land close to it so that one day they wouldn’t have food and would give up. That didn’t work, and they stayed in war for over ten years, during those ten years Patroclus and Achilles saved a lot of women and children and even taught them their language, and some even had children together.

Most men no longer had to go to the raids anymore, Patroclus included since he also became a doctor in camp, Achilles still had to go though since he was the strongest among the greek he had to fight for the army’s morale. So one day after a raid the daughter of a priest had been captured, and Agamemnon had put her as his prize, so her father came and asked for his daughter to be released in exchange for him; he was rejected.

Then a plague came nobody knew how or why, but people speculated that it was some god’s wrath, so Achilles had no choice but to ask his mother about it , who confirmed their assumptions, and when asked how to stop it she said they had to release the priest’s daughter, wich Agamemnon refused to do. Since Agamemnon refused and Achilles' men were dying because of the plague thus he decided to stop fighting until the daughter was released.

Agamemnon soon decided to release her,but also decided to kidnap the first woman they had saved, which was very close with not only Patroclus and Achilles but also with the rest of the Phthian camp, so they decided to revolt and not fight until he could prove he did nothing to her, and so Patroclus was given the right to check up on her every once in a while to make sure she is safe. Most of the men accepted that as being better than knowing nothing about her safety so they decided to go back to war, but Achilles saw that as disrespect and still refused to fight.

With Achilles not fighting anymore the Greeks started to lose the war, Patroclus seeing that most of them were injured and how the morale was low decided to beg Achilles to fight again, but even with all the words he said Achilles still refused. Then he had an idea, what if he went to war in Achilles place, with his armor so the army couldn’t notice and thus boosting their morale. He shared his idea with Achilles who was at first surprised but still agreed as long as Patroclus didn’t engage in actual fighting and stayed safe, which he promised to do.

Patroclus then attacked with the Greek army pretending to be Achilles and even though he promised not to engage in fighting he did and the Greek almost made it into Troy but after getting really close they failed and the strongest man from Troy, Hector, killed the supposed Achilles also known as Patroclus. From here on till the end of the book the story is narrated by ghost Patroclus that can only rest after being given a tomb with his name on it.

Thankfully they were able to save Patroclus’ body from the trojan, and after being told that his beloved had been killed Achilles went days without leaving his tent, his only company being Patroclus’ body. Then after a discussion with his mother he finally decided to take his revenge. First he killed Hector and dragged his body through the battlefield then after being begged to by Hector’s family he finally gave the body back, then more and more people tried to kill him but they always failed, he even stopped trying to breach inside of Troy he was just angry and waitting for someone good enough to kill him. Then one day after seeing so much blood Apollo decided to give Paris a little help in killing Achilles who was exhausted from everything and then Patroclus who still couldn't leave the mortal realm and go to the underworld watched as his beloved was killed and he could do nothing.

When deciding how to bury them, Odysseus said that they would have wanted to be cremated together and then buried, everyone agreed. Not much after Achilles’ death, his son appeared. Everyone was surprised that he had a son but they accepted it. When he was asked how should they wright the names of the tomb he asked why his father, the best of the greek, was being buried with a random man and after learning that they were really close and how that’s what his father would’ve wanted his ended up allowing them to be buried together but not to wright Patroclus’ name on the tomb.

The greek were able to win the war thanks to Odysseus' plan and Achilles’ son's strength, who dies young for messing with someone’s wife. And years after the war Patroclus is still in the mortal world waiting to finally be able to leave in peace, one day Tetis, who started coming to talk with him about her son, said he could finally leave because she had completed the tomb by adding his name to it. And then in the underworld the two of them finally reunite.

Gaby Michelle Stefanova Yatsiv nº8 9ºB

The book is divided into five different stories. The five stories are: Story of Cinderella; Silence; The House of the Sea; Saga and Vila d'Arcos. My favourite story is “Saga”. This story talks about one boy named Hans how lives in Vig, on the North Sea. The dream of Hans is de a seaman, but his father Soren don´t let Hans be a seaman, because Hans brothers died in a shipwreck, and he doesn't want to lose another child. But Hans don´t listen to his father and escape from the island of Vig in one sailboat. In the sailboat the captain mistreated Hans, which made him think he'd better have listened to his father and not gone. As soon as the sailboat docked in a town, he fled and slept in the streets, until he met a man named Hoyle who helped him. Hans moved in with him and created a plan to return to Vig and be forgiven by his family. One day, Hans sent a letter to his family in Vig and when he received the letter, he was very sad, because it said that his father did not accept him anymore, he also told him never to return to Vig. As time passed, Hans learned to sail and trade. As an adult, Hans was Hoyle's captain and right-hand man. He had already travelled all over the world but, even with his father's letter, he just wanted to get back to Vig. When Hoyle was older, Hans became his partner, so he was no longer a navigator, he now took care of everything Hoyle couldn't manage to do. He continued to write to his father, but he always got the same reply from his mother saying that his father would not see him. He raised a family in that city where he had landed long ago. When Hoyle died, he set up his own business, which made him richer than he was before. When his mother died, he sent a letter to his father, but he never got a response and that's when he realized he would never return to Vig. Hans bought a huge house on top of a hill, where he lived until his death. His last request was that a sunken ship be built over his tomb. His request was fulfilled, and a sunken ship was built over Hans' grave.

Luís Borges Nº16 9ºA

My favorite book is "Satan" by Mario Mendoza, it is an impressive story. the history It is about a murderer called "Satan" who, from his jail cell, remembers and recounts his horrible crimes and his obsession with evil. the story is from colombia bogota and it is a book that tells many stories that in the end they all connect But don't be fooled by the apparent obscurity of the story: "Satan" is also a profound reflection on human nature and the complexity of modern society. Through the voice of the murderer, the author asks us to look beyond the superficial and to delve into the dark corners of the human mind, to understand what drives someone to commit such terrible acts. This book will make you feel firsthand the fears and emotions of the characters, while you delve into a fascinating plot that will take you through surprising twists and turns. "Satan" is a literary work that will leave you thinking and reflecting long after finishing it.

Keily ladino torres
N° 14 9°C

The Outsiders (1967) is a well-known young adult novel by American writer S.E. Hinton. It tells the story of 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis and his two older brothers, Soda and Darry. The boys are orphans and struggle to stick together in their lower-class neighborhood, known as the East Side. They and their friends are part of a gang of working class tough street boys called the Greasers.
The book talks about the Ponyboy walking home from the movies and gets jumped by a group of Socs (or Socials), the rich kids from the West Side who drink, drive fancy cars, and beat up Greasers just for fun. The Greasers fear and hate the Socs because the Socs once beat up Ponyboy's friend and fellow Greaser Johnny Cade.

Adela Martínez 9B

Three little pig brothers who lived with a mother. Two little pigs didn't help at all around the house, while the third little pig felt sorry for the amount of work Mommy had and was always willing to help her.
One fine day, the mother, believing in her children's maturity, asked them to leave the house to follow their own lives. She did prepare a bag with a bag of provisions for each of them and provided some savings for them to buy materials to build the houses.
The first little pig, very lazy, wanted to build a house that didn't give work. Despite the brothers' crown, he expected a thatched house.
The second little pig, a little less lazy than the first, could build a wooden house. Although safer than the thatched house, the wooden one wasn't good for the cold and wasn't strong enough to keep out a wolf.
The third little pig, cautious and patient, built his house with bricks.
While the two youngest brothers finished the straw and wood constructions in one morning, the third little pig was still engaged in his time-consuming construction. In three days the work was done: he built a sturdy house with bricks and cement.
Some time later, a wolf appeared in the forest. Noticing the presence of the little pigs, he immediately knocked on the first house, the one made with straw. The first little pig, in a panic, fled to the house next door, that of the brother who had worked with the wood. . The wooden house, in fact, fell with a gust of wind. Taking advantage of the shortness of breath, the little pigs ran to their older brother's house. The older brother took them in and made sure everything would go well. When the wolf blew again, the house, made of bricks, didn't even move a millimeter. The next day, the wolf attacked the remaining house again, this time trying to enter through the fireplace. As the oldest piglet was very cautious, he left a pot of boiling soup positioned right under the fireplace. The wolf, falling into the boiler, fled in despair and the three little pigs remained safe and sound.

Paulo Morais 9-B

When a car crash occurs outside, Mr. Avery leaves to go make sure no one was hurt. Moments later, Simon takes a drink of water and collapses almost instantly.
