Think about these questions and share your thoughts on pain, peace, and perseverance. Encourage one another. I love you all so much. I will share some of these on Wednesday.

"He stilled the storm to a whisper, the waves of the sea were hushed." Psalm 107:29

Peace, I'm learning, is not an absence of war, but rather the presence of God. Peace is most evident in the midst of chaos (like the contrast of black on white). Peace doesn't make sense... it contradicts sense actually. It's not some sort of naive belief system... it's facing fear head on and trusting God to transform defeat into glory.

i believe God allows us to suffer pain because it can change how we view things. if things are going good and everything is perfect then we have no reason to better ourselves and look for something more. and we get comfortable. God doesn’t want us to be comfortable and He doesn’t want us to get settled. it’s in the most uncomfortable seasons of our life when we feel God because that is where He wants us. when we experience pain we come to a realization that we need God. He can speak to us through the pain. C.S. Lewis says “Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” God doesn’t take pleasure in our pain either. He loves us so very much and he’s constantly paying attention and moving in and through us. pain is inevitable but through it you can learn from it and grow closer to God.

I feel like praising God in the middle of the storm is about trusting that He is good no matter what we experience. If God is good, then there is a way for our problem to be used for good.
