1. Behind every action, there is hidden a consequence, you might decide the nature of such a consequence with the action; this idiomatic expression emphasizes in the relevancy of the concepts action and consequence.

2. You don’t see the diamond you have until you lose it; this idiomatic expression emphasizes in the fact that we tend to underestimate the things we have, and that this undervaluation certainly disappears when losing them.

3. The most uncomprehended entities are often the ones more rational; this idiomatic expression emphasizes in the stupidity of humans by believing that the things they know are only the best ones.

4. You might prefer the time beyond anything else; this idiomatic expression emphasizes in the priceless the time is since it is something it is given to you naturally and something that you can’t get in exchange of something.

5. We all start being an insignificant particle of dust in existence, but we might end being such a brilliant star; this idiomatic expression emphasizes in the personal growth of humans.

6. He’s a wolf with the skin of a sheep; this idiomatic expression emphasizes in how the appearances can often trick us in the sense that they are not always necessarily veridic.

“The IB’s making me see trees.”

Meaning: Refers to someone who is worried about getting low scores in the IB program, where he or she sees themselves getting 3/7 all the way through, which is a minimum grade for passing. Some may literally understand that the IB makes someone see trees instead of threes, which is why the idiomatic expression is told like that.

"Don't fly too close too the sun, don't fly too close too the sea"

I got inspired by the Greek myth of Icarus, whose uncle created him metal wings to scape from his prison, with a warning to not fly too close to the sun, because his wings might melt, or fly near the sea, because the water might make the glue that kept the metal together less resistant and eventually dissolve. I would use this expression as a way to tell people to not overestimate or underestimate themselves, bracuse either way they might fall. Both of these attitudes are not good for our self-esteem and might affect our judgment when deciding or when taking action on something, so it’s better to stay flying on the middle.

I’m still unsure on exactly what I want to study but I’m leaning towards medicine, specifically pediatrics, which means I have to work hard to get good results in the IB program. I sometimes spend various hours a day doing schoolwork and have sacrificed sleep and free time to finish everything, explaining the “day and night”, for my dream of a good career and a good future.

“Frustration doesn’t last forever”. Meaning that someone’s stress or disappointment will end eventually. In the IB program you can experience stress from the amount of work or the difficulty of certain topics, this can lead to someone wanting to give up, but something I have learned is that the feeling of stress and disappointment doesn't last forever. Giving your most will dissipate the past frustration you experienced after seeing the rewards you gained for your effort, such as a good grade or just the feeling of being done with your work.
