<title>An Endless Inventory by Elizabeth Callen</title>
      <link>https://padlet.com/elizabethacallen/2k1manp6i9z2</link>
<description>Ratliff brings to attention the idea of an endless inventory. He also writes about Mariah Carey&#39;s career. In the beginning, before she was with Sony, and the many other names eventually tied to her, her music felt more &quot;her&quot; and it would show of her vocal ability. Whereas now, she is restricted by her contractors trying to keep her in the new, and mold her, as well as evolve her. This is where the idea of an endless inventory comes in. She will always have Sony wanting to change her, with endless possibilities. Not just her, but with every musician. Music will always be changing, and to make money with these companies, a musician must change with the times. The issue is that Mariah is no longer show cased because her career took a turn down the pop route. These songs are not meant to allow for many runs because of their upbeat nature. However, part of what makes Mariah such a successful artist is her large range, which is easily showcased through a run. This idea of music always changing can be exciting, but it does not always represent talented artists in the best way. Ratliff also discussed collections and the capability of having all of an artist&#39;s work in one place. This can be interesting to have to compare your music and see how you have improved. In Mariah&#39;s case though, she is able to see how restricted she is because of the deals she made when she was younger</description>
