By promoting the wonderful hues and skin tones that make us diverse, children learn that not everyone has exactly the same skin tone. Children gain descriptive words to define their skin, and likely will find a shade that celebrates them in this beautifully written story that celebrates the diversity in all of us. When children see themselves represented in literature it self confidence is built.
