Grocery stores in Burlington are taking single use plastic bags away by the 20th of April. Then Vermont plans to ban the bags on the 1st of July. Then there’s a quote from the City Market General Manager. And last it says how if you need a paper bag, you will be charged 10 cents per each.

Reducing bag use can lessen (something bad) harmful hits/effects to oceans, rivers, lakes, forests and the wildlife that live in them. It can also relieve pressure on (places where garbage and trash are dumped) and waste management. 

While some states are focusing on putting into use effective recycling programs, others are charging bans or fees to discourage the use of plastic bags completely.

Even though plastic bag bans reduce the amount of disposable plastic bags used by around 40 million pounds per year, sales of thicker plastic trash bags increased by around 12 million pounds.
