         <title>Think Logs</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>*This is a journal that lets students reflect on their development of cognitive skills such as classification, drawing, inferences, creative thinking, self-regulation, and decision making, during a cognitively complex task.<br>*The following are some examples of prompts to use to help your students reflect on these cognitive skills:</div><ul><li>How might you explain <em>creative thinking</em> to a friend?</li><li>What parts of classification do you understand the most? What parts do you understand the least?</li><li>Describe an inference you made during today's lesson.&nbsp;</li></ul><div>*Technology not only enhances this reflection process, but also offers an alternative to writing (which is great for students who would rather express themselves orally or visually).          <title>Journals</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>*Journals are similar to Think Logs because they capture the students' reflections. But they are different because they focus on the cognitively complex task itself, instead of the cognitive skill the students are developing. Here are some prompt examples:</div><ul><li>What is the purpose of the task you are working on?</li><li>How will your cognitively complex task boost your success with the learning goals?</li><li>What problems did you encounter while working on your cognitively complex task today?</li></ul><div>*Microsoft Word, Google Docs and Drive, or any other word processing software are great technology tools to use with this strategy. Google Drive, for example, is a great way to create templates that scaffold the students' reflections on declarative tasks. IWB software or Google Drive can be used to create interactive WNH charts to scaffold the students' reflections about cognitive tasks.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Peer Tutoring</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>*Peer Tutoring allows students who have reached the most advanced level for a learning goal to volunteer to help their fellow classmates who may need some extra help to get to the next level. This is beneficial in two ways:</div><ul><li>Students who need a little extra help are receiving that from their peers, hopefully building a good working relationship</li><li>Advanced students are able to deepen their own knowledge by explaining a complex process to someone else</li></ul><div>*Technology can also be implemented with this strategy, and is a great enhancement to peer tutoring.
