Ratified in 1865. It abolished slavery after the civil war. It stated: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

14th: It was adopted on July 9, 1868 and allowed former slaves to become citizens and were meant to have every right of a citizen.
