         <description><![CDATA[<div>Kristallnacht or The Night of the broken glass happened on November ninth and tenth 1938, when the SS, Sa, and Hitler Youth torched and destroyed Synagogues and Jewish shops in&nbsp; Germany. this is one of the many events of isolation in this time period to not only Jewish people but the many others they deemed fit for such punishments, such as gays, disabled people, ect.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The invasion of Poland happened on September 1st, 1939 when German troops invaded Poland, essentially triggering WWll. In response to German aggression Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. German forces broke through Polish defenses and advanced in Warsaw, they occupied western Poland for five years after this invasion. </div>]]></description>

         <title>The battle of Midway June, 1942</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The battle of Midway started on June 4th, 1942, when aircraft from four Japanese aircraft carriers attacked and severely damaged the US base on Midway. unknown to the Japanese, the U.S. forces were just to the east of the island and ready for the battle. The battle lasted for a few days ending on June 7th, with&nbsp; 3,057 Japanese casualties, while the U.S. only lost 362 men, one carrier, one destroyer, and 144 aircraft.  The American victory meant a turning point in the war. Many say this "avenged pearl harbor" In this invasion island hopping was used. since it was too costly to take back every island back they focused on important islands.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The invasion of Italy September, 1943</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Allies invaded Italy on September 3, 1943, looking for a way into mainland Europe. They thought this was a better way than crossing the English Channel into the fortified beaches of Nazi Germany. Italy was a warzone for 18 months, for those times the Allies fought the Germans up the peninsula. The Allies took Naples in October 1943 but reached Rome in June 1944, Florence in August, and all the other cities in April 1945. In April 1945 a major offensive began, on April 28th, Mussolini was captured by the Italians and executed. German forces in Italy officially surrendered on May 1st, and six days later all of Germany surrendered.</div>]]></description>

The war uprooted millions of people who were called "displaced persons", The Allied forces faced huge responsibilities for survivors; housing and feeding, and also denazifying and democratizing Germany. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki August 6th, 1945, American forces dropped the world's first deployed atomic bomb over a city in Japan named Hiroshima. The explosion killed an estimated 80,000, people most of these people were civilians, and tens of thousands of people were killed later by the radiation exposure to the bombs. Three days later, another bomb was dropped on another city in Japan named Nagasaki, where an estimated 40,000 more people were killed. Japan's emperor announced Japan's unconditional surrender in the war on August 15th citing the devastating power of " a new and most cruel bomb"</div>]]></description>
