In other cases, it might be because the young person might be at significant risk to him/herself or others and the scope of the youth worker might be limited. This matter would have to be referred by the YW as the YP has requested the youth worker to act on their behalf, so a mandate it set to meet the needs of the YP. Support for the YP would occur until the YP was in safe hands of the  social worker or police. The YW will stay with the YP if the young person feels thay need them as the YP is the primary client.
