How did you share responsibility for decision making within your group?

Within our group, we usually build off of each others work, we added ideas to existing ideas. For example my partner Shreeya started doing marble painting, I used this and added it to our mind map by cutting arrows out of the marble paper. We both had a say in whatever decisions were being made if someone did not agree we would try and incorporate everyones aspects and ideas, and come up with a better idea/option.

How did you manage and resolve conflicts to work collaboratively in teams?

There were not many conflicts but the key disagreements we had were regarding the design and again decisions being made, as mentioned above to solve this we tried our best incorporate all ideas and perspectives to one.

Did you listen actively to other's perspectives and ideas?

Yes, we listened to each others ideas and used everyones perspectives and ideas before finalising anything or making any decisions.

What is the theme of your mind map? Have you succeeded to develop it in your visual presentation?

Our mind map was about illustrations, we just had a colourful theme, with a silhouette of a person thinking and coming up with ideas. We built our mind map on the silhouette of the person, in addition we added small sketches and cartoons as decorations.

Did you learn anything new in this process?

Yes, I learnt more about illustrations how characters and stories are actually developed. I also learnt how to represent information and how to come up with a creative mind map that is also informative at the same time, lastly this exercise worked on collaboration and team building and how everyones perspectives are useful and helpful.

How have you communicated your thoughts, message and idea through your artwork?

My artwork brings out the theme and message of my book, how everybody is different and how you should be proud and love who you are. I have portrayed the main story line of the book by showing a part of the plot where Elmer tries to change who he is my standing under a berry tree that eventually covers him and makes him grey. The title is bold and large representing how you should stay and stick to who you are, be proud and bold.

Is it clear to the audience what is your book about by looking at the cover page designed by you? Take 2 peer feedback to justify.

Shyamoli: Yes, it is very clear the animated elephant and the colours and bright effects make the cover page very appealing and i would have guessed it is a children's book.

Sanaaya: Yes, I also think it is clear the overall layout and design and how Elmer is the centre of attention, the style the elephant is drawn in and the typography as well as colours used portrays and shows that it is for kids/children/youth.

How have you created your artwork keeping your audience in mind? Is your layout and style audience(Chosen) friendly?

Yes, my audience is children and young kids under the age of 10, I have kept my cover page very appealing and attractive to lure younger children in. The choice of colours and my layout (the big title, and the different types of fonts, and elmer the elephant being the key centre of attention) In addition the elephant is drawn in a cartoon manner not very realistic, hence also appropriate for kids.

How is your title communicating the main idea ?

My title is "Elmer" Elmer is the main character in the book, the book is based on Elmer. I have written "Elmer" behind a band of colourful splashes which represents how he is different, and how he is the only elephant that is not grey, this basically portrays the main idea of my book.

Take 2 productive peer feedback asking them if you have succeeded to communicate through your visuals and text you have chosen for your illustration.

Siya: I really liked the fact that you maintained a colour scheme, you have a very vibrant layout and I really liked that. It makes your cover page appealing to the eye, especially to younger kids which demonstrated and shows that your are successful in communicating through your visuals/text. Lastly I like how you used one icon to make it easier for the audience to connect.

Shreeya: I really liked the concept of your artwork, and how you have maintained a theme throughout the art work. I really like the grass it gives it a realistic feel, and the pops of colour make the art attractive. In addition I really liked your style of drawing the elephant and how you wrote the title/typography. You have succeeded and communicated the story through you cover page, and the visuals and text support the storyline.
