"Fortunately, the sincere and gifted politician is able, by the instrument of propaganda, to mold and form the will of the people" (Pg. 109).

With great power, comes great responsibility. This was true when Uncle Ben told Peter Parker in Spiderman and the same is true for the men and women in positions of power in our political system. When a leader with good intentions uses propaganda properly, progress and change happens for the world. However, this could also happen negatively with politicians who may not have everyone's best interest at heart. Hopefully, those in power have everyone's best interest at heart.

"Business realize that its relationship to the public is not confined to the manufacture and sale of a given product, but includes at the same time the selling of itself and of all those things for which it stand in the public mind" (Pg. 83).

Business is not as simple and the product and the customer. It used to be that the company made whatever it wanted, whenever it wanted, regardless of the publics. Now the company must take into consideration the wants, needs, and opinions of the company. Companies with poor branding and reputations do not do well in the long wrong. Companies that cater to the customer service tend to be better received and thrive.

"The people actually gained the power which the king lost" (Pg. 47).

For so many years, the power was in the kings queens, and the rest of the monarchy. In more recent times, the power that used to belong to the kings was taken away and given to the people. The people have found ways to mold one another and to mold the masses. The only way to mold the masses, whether it is in sport, entertainment, finance, politics, it is through one process: Propaganda.

"Propaganda will never die out. Intelligent men [and women] must realize that propaganda is the modern instrument by which they can fight for productive ends and help to bring order out of chaos" (Pg. 168).

So as long as there are people, masses, those in power, and messages flowing back and forth, there will be propaganda. Propaganda is what keeps things somewhat less chaotic and controlled. Propaganda does its best to tame and manipulate the masses whether it is for good or for wrong doing. The result is in the hand of the people and the propagandists.

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society" (Pg. 37).

It is the very first sentence of the very first chapter. Propaganda is quite literally the organizational methods that public relations professionals may or may not use to "manipulate" our government, entertainment, businesses, and everything in between. Bernays goes on to say, "Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country" (Pg. 37). Whether the people realize it or not, these are the people behind the scenes. Propagandists are the puppet masters controlling the strings for better or for worse.
