Oh Snap....I was not expecting that! O.o The message that I got from this video is that we need to pay attention to the "background" kids. We need to make all of them our business. I think that this would be a good video to show students so that they are reminded that what is going on with their peers is just as important as what is going on in their personal life. It is important to actually SEE what is happening around you.

Even though I saw a few of the signs, like the magazine and the gun video, I immediately forgot after the main story continued. It shows us how perceptive and attentive we need to be as educators. It also shows how blind we can be despite overwhelming evidence being presented to us. I would like to say that the shooter needed a friend like Bored did, but he seemed to disengage anyway who attempted to socialize with him. As teachers we need to be cognizant of our student's behavior and make the right calls if we suspect something. Lastly, the video showed the power a love story and happy music has on a piece of media.

We can't be afraid to speak out. This video could be used to bring awareness to students about gun violence in schools and the importance of them reporting anything they see that sets of internal alarms

I noticed all of the gun refenerces in the background while watching the video, but would also quickly forget about them watching Evan's story. This video can show students they need to be more aware of their surroundings. If talking about literacy, you can say that the same techniques could be applied to reading, looking for context clues.

Except it had a much stronger message than just a moonwalking bear strolling through while your not paying attention. The message was about the importance of recognizing the signs of bullying/upset and actively engaging in prevention efforts. In the classroom, this video could be used as an introduction/attention grabbing factor to bullying/stuff related discussions.

I've seen this video before and it still makes me want to cry when I see it. People oftentimes don't pay attention to other people or the thing that are going on around them. We tend to focus on the good things around us instead of seeing the signs of something that might be wrong until it's too late. When you stop and try to see everything that's going on around you, you can prevent something or help change something. You need to be aware of the behaviors that your students are showing in the classroom and around school. It can be used in a classroom to help show how to recognize harmful behaviors.

I've seen this before but I remember the first time I saw it I definitely wasn't paying attention to the background kids. I think it's important to be aware of signs and surroundings and behaviors, to be able to prevent tragedies.
