He shows a real interest in painting and often uses it to share his ideas. He enjoys exploring different textures by touching and talking about how things feel. Rifumu is becoming more confident in himself and is happy to try new things .He is learning to talk about his feelings and always shows care for others. Rifumu is developing a confident understanding of his body and can name most major body parts accurately. He explains simple functions, such as what arms and legs do and enjoys linking this knowledge to movement games. When drawing, he represents body parts with growing accuracy and attention to proportion. Rifumu has developed the ability to reach across the body to complete tasks such as drawing or catching. He shows a growing sense of spatial awareness, navigating around obstacles safely. He talks about times of the day and seasons confidently and can trace paths in mazes with good control and enjoys the challenge. He participates eagerly in action songs, moving in rhythm with the group. Well done Rifumu.

Gross Motor Development

Rifumu has shown excellent progress in gross motor development this year. He enjoys running, jumping and climbing with confidence and control. His coordination continues to improve and he can throw and catch a ball with increasing accuracy. Rifumu moves with energy and enthusiasm and is developing strong balance and rhythm during physical activities. Keep it up big boy.

Fine Motor development

He concentrates well on threading tasks and enjoys matching colours and patterns. Painting and colouring is completed with care and he enjoys challenging puzzles that require fine coordination. Rifumu can identify his full name and surname and uses it during personal tasks. He writes his first name confidently and correctly. He is developing the ability to write his surname with care and persistence. Rifumu is developing confidence in writing sounds and simple words independently. Rifumu has developed well in saying days of the week and months of the year in Afrikaans, and isiZulu. He is developing greater confidence when speaking to me and his friends. He has learned to listen, respond, and stay on topic during conversations. Rifumu has shown great enthusiasm in learning sign language this year. Rifumu demonstrates very good understanding of numbers and counting. He can identify numbers randomly, write them neatly and recall numbers previously learnt. He counts forwards to 100 and backwards from 30, as well as from any given number, such as 5 or 10. He enjoys counting in concrete objects and using an abacus to support his understanding. He can recognise shapes, count the sides of 2D shapes and identify familiar 3D shapes. Hi enthusiasm and confidence in numeracy activities are excellent. You have excelled in this skill set. Rifumu is very confident in creative activities. He enjoy exploring different textures and media, including painting with mud, bubbles and using playdough. His drawings, colouring and collages show imaginative ideas and thoughtful use of colour. Rifumu enjoys inventing stories during play and engaging with music and rhymes enthusiastically. He shows strong bilateral coordination when moving and crossing the midline in dance and rhythmic activities. His creativity, energy and willingness to experiment are a delight to observe. You have become such a confident little boy and have made me so proud.
