Al be honest and say that my first couple of years in my middle school French class had been dull and not as fun for me since I mainly looked at the class as a way I could gain a better chance into a better college. I thought this way for both French 1A, 1B, and a while for French II. Somewhere along the line, it clicked to me that I should try and actually take this class for granted and make the most out of it. I now look at French from a different perspective and try my best to enjoy as much as I possibly can from learning and having genuine fun from it. I thank teachers like Madame Le Bouder for making the class something better than I would have imagined it. Especially with COVID and online learning, I still have fun.

So why not take it? Assuming that you put in the work, you can get to a near fluent level in just three years! And besides, its free and you'll get college stuff. And if you already speak French fluently, you can email the teacher, get a mini interview, and skip a couple of levels. Now that that's said, the reason I "chose" French is because I'm one of those Frenchys can already speak it and because according to my parents, it would be easy. A couple emails and a phone call later and now I'm in French 3. Also, Madame Le Bouder is very nice and will never give you up or let you down. And we learn about french food. So at least take the class for the food.

It has its challenges and can be difficult to learn (most languages do), but I think the positives of the language outweigh the negatives. French is also a very applicable language around the world, it is spoken in France, Canada, Switzerland, and more. I am not someone who is naturally good at languages and not someone who can learn them very easily, but I think French is worth it! As a junior now who has taken 3 years of French at Monte Vista and plans to continue for a fourth, I think French is a good language choice.

I signed up for French as my language because culturally I'm Basque, a culture that France has influenced. My grandparents were from France, their second language was French and nobody in the generation above me spoke any. Although I only went in to French so that I could strengthen my own cultural ties; I found out that the French culture is very rich and interesting. Learning a language like French will give you a whole new perspective on the world; a perspective not often found here in the USA. If there is any reason to take French, let it be for the cultural learning experience and new outlook on life. Oh and the food is delicious too.

I'm currently in French III, and French has become one of my favorite classes. Not only is French a central language on the global stage, making it very useful to know, but the French classes at MV are really good; you'll get an in-depth understanding of the basics of the language, which helps you build later on. More importantly, you'll have fun doing it! French classes at MV are more than just notes and grammar, you'll play games, learn French history and culture, act out skits, listen to current popular French music, and eat authentic French food! French is a great language to take not only to fulfill your foreign language credits, but to have a new skill you can apply to both college and jobs applications, and to your life. Taking a foreign language like French can help give you another perspective on English and your own American culture. Both Madame Sass and Madame Le Bouder are great teachers, so no matter who you get, you'll have a great experience in a MV French class!

I decided to start French when I was in 7th grade, and ever since I’ve never looked back! 
I had heard that it was going to be a difficult class, but once I started, I realized it was all worth it.  Now I can watch French movies and talk to friends who speak French fluently (for the most part). My favorite part has been learning about French cuisine, specifically French desserts. At Monte Vista, you’re given the opportunity to not only learn the French language, but to explore real-world French experiences. It opens up a whole other perspective. I highly recommend taking French as a class next year!
