I can keep in mind that it is easy for student with a lot on their plate to get stressed out and offer extra help if needed.The broad implications is that there are so many things in student lives in general and being a student athlete adds stress to it in general. Some stress factors ar stress of a scholarship, pressure from parents and even getting into a good college.   • The authors were trying to find out what factors in division one athletes affect their game, school, and how much information they retain. Their research question was What non-cognitive variables, as measured by nine factors in the TCI, predict retention for student athletes at large, public, moderately selective research in division 1 colleges (Brecht, 2014, p. 5)?
  • According to Brecht (2014) there was 275 students that played in 16 different collegiate teams that were first year college students (p. iii).
  •  They took the groups and looked at their overall gpa, looked to see what motivates them and looked to see if they were scholar or non scholar athletes. They compared their grades in high school and college and all the factors that the students faced. They also stated that more research needed to be done because they could not come to a 100% conclusion for why they got the data that they did. 
  • The author found that they needed to do more research to see if all the data had correlation or if it was completely random. She also took into consideration the athletes confidence, skills before, and stress levels.

  • The study went well because it took in account many aspects of the athletes lives and how they felt
  • It could have been improved by doing it over a longer amount of time not just senior/ junior year of high school to their freshman year in college
