I brush my teeth for five minutes and I wash my face.

I have a big breakfast, then I chat with my sister - we talk about a lot of different things. Next, I help my mum with the housework.

After that, I sit on my bed and relax for ten minutes. Then I go to school on foot. Am I late? No, never! That's because I live next to my school. My home is only two minutes from my classroom.

The sun was too bright, the speeches were too long, and my dress was entirely too tight.

I knew it the moment I sat in the car—the zipper had groaned, and my lungs had issued a quiet protest. But there was no turning back. The invitation said “formal,” and this was the only thing in my closet that matched the vibe. It also happened to be from five pounds ago.

The ceremony was held in a manicured garden that smelled faintly of lavender and regret. The bride looked beautiful, of course—floaty and glowing in a way that made it seem like she wasn’t melting in the heat. The groom cried. People clapped. I shifted in my chair, trying to discreetly un-stick my thighs from each other.

Then came the reception: beige food, a DJ who mistook volume for vibe, and small talk with strangers who all seemed to work in real estate. I nodded, smiled, and wished I could breathe deeper than shallow sips of air.

The only highlight was the cake—three tiers of strawberry mousse and fleeting happiness. I ate it in one bite, ignored the way the seams of my dress threatened rebellion, and snuck out during the fifth round of "Shout."

It wasn’t a terrible day. Just one I wouldn’t write home about.

Unless, of course, I needed to tell someone how it feels to be overdressed, underwhelmed, and deeply uncomfortable for six hours straight.
