(a) My task: Learning Korean

(b) What I enjoyed doing the most and why: Learning Korean was hard and to be honest I didn’t learn much words but I enjoyed writing the words. The words are like Chinese. This help me to improve my handwriting. I watch kdrama and my idols reality show and I found out that they use different words that have the same meaning at different situation.

Like example: hello

When we want to say hello to our relatives or strangers we say Annyeonghaseyo. When we want to say hello a close friend we can just say annyeong. When we want to say hello to the person that called you we say yeoboseyo.

(a) My task: Learning how to do embroidery. There are a lot of types of embroidery but I decided to learn how to do punch needle embroidery.

(b)What I enjoyed the most and why: I enjoyed the part when I finally got the hang of it as it took awhile to learn. I also failed multiple times before getting the hang of it so I was very happy when I managed to do it correctly.

My task: baking cookies

What i enjoyed the most and why: i enjoyed baking the cookies and the outcome of it. It broke apart because i drop it. Overall, i enjoyed the process of seeing how the cookie is formed from a mixture.

I learnt how to cook simple snacks since I don’t cook often, using potatoes, my favourite dish was breakfast potatoes as it was easy, yummy and it didn't take a long time to make.
I enjoyed how crunchy it was and how mindless it was to make.

Task: Origami

a) Throughout my SIL journey, I’ve made several origami animals, starting from simple ones to ones that are more difficult. (I’ll upload some pictures below)

b) The thing that I enjoyed the most is the process of making these. I am not good at papercraft, so I find some of them difficult and time-consuming to make. I would sometimes need to understand and follow complicated steps from tutorials where I had to replay the video several times because my eyes and brain cannot comprehend what is going on in the video. As a result, this helped me to improve my observation skills, attentiveness and patience.

For my SIL, my mother and I cook fried noodle for the family. It was a very fun and memorable experience to cook for the family.
The part that I enjoy the most is seeing my family reactions on how it taste…surprisingly it turn out to be very delicious. My family really enjoy the dish that my mother and I made ,as it was flavourful and also healthy. The dish look simple but it takes a lot to prepare.

My task: Learning how to juggle the ball

I enjoyed the part where i would get like 30 or 40 juggles in a row as it took quite a while to get used to the technique of juggling the ball. I also failed multiple times for Eg. I would do 3 juggles and then mess up. So I was pretty happy when I managed to do 30 on video

I can’t possibly show all the code I have worked for or how many projects I’ve made since I’ve made 19 new projects this year - some discord bots that could integrate gpt-3.5-turbo model from OpenAI (basically ChatGPT model discord bot with other functions), a few games I made using JavaScript such as Slenderman by combining 3D and 2D graphics with the [math.random] tile array positioning, etc. Some projects I’ve made even exceeds 1000 lines of code. The most recent one I’ve worked on is the AI Cover Gen WebUI which integrates the OpenAI model ‘Whisper AI’ for text-to-speech and speech-to-speech functions with trained voices. I’ve also worked with gpt-3.5-turbo to make a WhatsApp bot that could send messages just like ChatGPT - on WhatsApp with its own phone number. I have added context to the memory stored in its system file, which is basically like the memories of humans put to text that it will rely upon to generate replies. I’ve added scenarios and feelings in its memory, for example, he is a trustworthy friend and polite, which shapes its behaviours through words generated. After the memory training process is done, it will respond like any other human who have gone through what it has stored in its memories.

Task: Try to get faster and fitter from running and beat Yusuf one day. For the first pic, I ran 1.8 in 6 min and 13 seconds. For the second pic, I ran 4km in 18 min and 24 seconds
I must say that running have actually turned into my hobby and it is my routine to basically run long distances every day. Although the starting was hard and it was difficult to push myself to my limits and try to break my limits but at last it was worth it. Despite the fact that I did not accomplish my goal but I have gotten physically and mentally stronger and I feel that as long as I train more, I will get to beat Yusuf someday.
This Sil project has strengthened my 6 pacs almost a 8 pac which I think I can accomplish after a few more months of training. My calves has also gotten stronger, although people say that I’m skinny and say that I have barely changed, I can gladly tell them that I have gotten more muscle and gotten much faster in running. At first when I came to evergreen I was only a skinny boy with not a lot of muscle and I can’t even come close to Yusuf score. I trained really hard everyday but when Yusuf, zx, dav and the others joined cross country they have gotten so much stronger ans faster and soon I was left behind and I gave up. Sil motivated me to continue to work hard and without it I don’t think that I would have the courage and motivation to accomplish my goals.

Painting (continuation from last year)

1) My task: Painting using mediums out of my comfort zone.
2) What I enjoyed & why: At first, I wanted to learn how to learn a new language but gave up, so I changed my hobby to painting (again) I enjoyed the change because I got to learn from my mistakes from the last SIL. I learned more techniques, colour theory and the use of lines. Even though it was a long process, I enjoyed expressing my feelings into my Art. After I finished this project (photo above) I compared it to my last year’s SIL project. I was elated by how much I had improved over the past year even if I hadn’t been painting for months😅 I do not regret changing my SIL project ;) I feel that anyone can do Art, even if it looks “ugly”. At first, I didn’t take Art seriously but now, after practicing on a canvas, I actually enjoy Art? (For now)😀

Rainbow Loom Bracelet 🌈

a) For my SIL, I managed to find something that I can actually do as physically and hands on. That is, rainbow loom bracelet. I got it as a gift and without hesitation, I opened the set of rainbow loom bracelet and slowly learning it from online by myself. After a few try on it, I am successfully able to do it without the video from online as I know how to do the rainbow loom bracelet already. Therefore, I choose rainbow loom bracelet as a physically and hands on activity that I can do for this SIL lesson.

b) To me, I found that doing rainbow loom bracelet makes me enjoy myself so much as I get to learn new skills and try something new. Also, by doing the rainbow loom bracelet, I am able to release my stress and control my emotions when I am doing this. However rainbow loom bracelet teaches me in cognitive skills, hand strength, visual perception and lastly to teach me to be patience and to have the resilient and integrity when doing it.

A) I learned to draw out and colour characters such as ghost as my SIL.

B)I learned to better use the features of sketchbook and enhance my art abilities, through this I also learned how to use different tools and types of inks in sketchbook to achieve certain textures or lines that I want. I also learned how to use colours and different sprays of colours to achieve the desired look I wanted for the character. Overall this artwork took me about a week spanning over the year. To which I am very satisfied with how it turned out and will continue to try and draw out more characters in my free time.

What I did for SIL: Learn Japanese

Most of the time I did not really make notes but I used an application instead to learn the language. I learnt like basic phrases like ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ and numbers.
I enjoy learning it as it can give me another way to communicate to others especially if I were to go to Japan.
Most of the time I felt like giving up because I am not good at learning new things in addition to memorising the information already taught it school so this taught me to persevere and never give up.

The best part of learning basketball is playing against my friends as I got to experience how it is like to play against others and also felt that it was hard to apply my skills in the matches as I wasn’t confident enough, but over time I would get used to it and be able carry out my skills easily.

Task: Getting better at football
I’ve been training for months in football, joined a camp and played with older people to get better at the sport.
The video shows me scoring a penalty that gave my team the chance to win which we did (2-1). Scoring this shot means a lot since it means that I can become a great penalty taker like Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. I aspire to become a professional footballer and help Singapore get in the World Cup.

I HAVE LEARNT CROCHETING FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE AS TAUGHT BY MY GODMOTHER HOWEVER I NEVER MADE A REAL PIECE BEFORE AND I TOOK INSPIRATION FROM SOMEBODY ELSE THAT'S WHY I HAVE DECIDED TO DO CROCHETING AS MY SIL.AS THERE WERE PARTS WHICH WAS LEFT UNFINISHED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE YEAR I HAVE DECIDED TO FINISH THE PIECE. IT HAS BEEN USED FOR PUTTING OF HOT ITEMS ON THE DINING TABLE TO PREVENT BURNS. THUS THIS SIL HAVE BEEN SOMETHING THAT I RARELY TOUCH IN MY SECONDARY SCHOOL PERIOD.
