The pressure canner method is for non-acidic foods like soups, vegetables, sauces, etc. To do this method, you need a pressure canner machine. The pressure canner is a very good way to keep the food at 240 degrees fahrenheit, instead of colder or warmer.

Dehydrating foods is the easiest and fastest way to preserve food. To preserve food by dehydrating you can either use an electric dehydrator or just dry it naturally. You an dry it naturally by putting it in a cool, dark, and dry area or a warm and dark area.

Using a cold storage is similar to dehydrating. While in the cold storage, you also have to keep it in a cool and dark room, usually a basement or attic. This keeps it in a good condition because the food won't spoil or rotten.

Freezing food keeps it in a good condition. You can freeze any type of food, even ones that you wouldn't typically think of freezing. This keeps the food in a good state where the moisture is still there but it is not warm. Since it is not warm, bacteria won't go near it because the bacteria don't like the cold.

The water bath method is for high-acidic foods like tomatoes, jams, etc. To perform the water bath method, you take a glass jar with food in it and submerge it into boiling water. This will turn the food into a good state and keep it fresh for a few months to a couple of years if it is done correctly.

Salt curing is used for preserving meat, usually fish or beef. Salt works as a good preserver, because it sucks the moisture out of things. As you know, if you eat too much food with salt in it, you become dehydrated and you need to drink more water. To perform this type of preservation, you'll need a bunch of salt, some glass jars, and/or some crocks.

What Causes Food to Spoil?

There are many ways that food can spoil and many factors that can go into it, but the two that I thought are the most important are:
Temperature : If a certain food needs to be in a certain temperature to stay fresh, they should in that temperature. For example dairy items need to be in a cool area that is about 32 degrees.
Moisture : Bacteria like and need moisture to continue living so if there is moisture in a substance, they will most likely go for that substance and start to make it spoil.
