I live in the Hagginwood neighborhood and have been here since 2018. I don’t like driving and have always preferred to walk or catch a ride and noticed many deficiencies for pedestrians. I used to live in Hawaii on the island of Maui for five years. One funny thing I remember is that they call people who backpack and move to the islands, “Hoofers”. Which is funny to me because I used to backpack everywhere. I am here in hopes to help with some of the many, “ Where the Sidewalk ends.” Moments here in Sacramento. It really is so annoying to me because where I had lived my whole life prior to ever being in Sacramento the city was responsible for the sidewalks, but here sometimes Residents are and they opt out of sidewalks. I was not used to that! I've lived borderline South Sacramento/Elk-Grove since I was 2 years old, so I consider Sacramento my home. I work for the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services for almost 3 years now. My job is very rewarding and close to my heart!  I work in our Partner Agency & Community Engagement Department. I work with over 120 agencies who consist of social service organizations, housing properties, school districts, churches, etc. They all serve as food pantries and/or food closets for their communities. The need has more than doubled since before COVID. We at SFBFS are always finding ways to better serve our clients and create greater access in Sacramento County. Transportation is always a big concern for our clients, so I'm happy to be a part of the solution. 

My faith in God/Jesus is a huge part of my life. I'm a part of the Sacramento City International Christian Church and we have a non-profit called MERCY WorldWide. Its a global humanitarian movement. M.E.R.C.Y stands for Maximizing Efforts for Relief, Care, & Youth. We partner with local organizations, non-profits, schools, etc to serve the community whether its giving away back packs, Toy Drive for Christmas, Senior Home event, Feeding the homeless, etc. 

Fun facts about me: I LOVE to travel!! I want to literally see the world. Its one of the best things to do in life and teaches you so much more than a classroom. I'm a huge foodie! I love trying cultural dishes, but also have a HUGE sweet tooth! I've been a creative all my life! I grew up doing Dance & Theater and started my own All-Female Hip-Hop Dance crew. I love writing poetry//spoken word and going to Open Mics. I love event planning and decorating, especially for Holidays. I studied Radio Broadcasting in college and had my own Radio Show in San Jose. With all that, I'm a proud Aunty to my now 7 year old nephew, who means everything to me.

Currently, I am a people manager and I commute by bicycle 2/3rds of the year to the Elk Grove area which gives me a great view of the city. When I first started commuting I tried to take the light rail but quickly found out it was faster for me to ride my bicycle straight from Oak park to Elk Grove.

Our Westlake community is blessed with good neighbors, safe streets, and beautiful weather. However, Westlake (west of I-5 & Del Paso Road) is situated as a "transportation island" with limited safe alternatives to driving a personal vehicle. Meanwhile, (as practicable) I've been a dedicated bike commuter and have been professionally trying to increase green streets and/or ATP.
