This makes the tone and mood very joyful and bouncy.

The mood continues in the same manner. 
3. "Worked out the beat of a song on the fence around the pigpen" (1). This continues her joyous and happy mood, and carrying the pleasant tone. 
4. "Around the spring, where her family got their drinking water, silver ferns and wild flowers grew" (1). Brings the mood of growth and freshness, along with tine of joy. 
5. "Today she made her own path, bouncing this way and that way, vaguely keeping an eye out for snakes" (1). Turns the mood into something more playful and adventurous, same with the tone, maybe hinting something darker. 
6. "An armful of strange blue flowers with velvety ridges and and a sweets suds bush full of the brown, fragrant buds" (1). Continues with adventurous mood, getting into maybe a dangerous tone. 
7. "(a mile or more from home) It seemed gloomy in the little cove in which she found herself" (1). Mood suddenly dips into a creep gloomy feeling, giving a sort of alone, scared tone.
8. "(circles back to house, steps into skull, bends down to free herself) It was only when she saw his naked grin that she gave a little yelp of surprise" (1). Mood gives off a deadly feel now, and tone leaves behind something creepy and gloom filled.
