Reed Hastings got the idea after Blockbuster charged him a $40 fee for the videotape Apollo 13. Netflix was originally a DVD rent-by-mail company; they also had initially capitalized the F, "NetFlix.com." NetFlix.com opened for business on April 14, 1998, with thirty workers and 925 titles for rent. Later in 2010, Netflix launched its service in Canada. In 2011 services were available in Latin America and the Carribean.
