Hearing and Vision impairments can be identified through routine checks with a GP, audiologist, or ophthalmologist. Early intervention is extremely important for children, so they are able to obtain the developmental skills they need.   • A mobility specialist may need to help the student become well oriented with their environment. If he or she feels unsafe or uncomfortable in their classroom setting they could be unwilling to interact with the people and things around them. 
  • The curriculum for a student with this disability is much different. They are expected to learn and develop communication skills and routines that later on translate into the concepts they are learning. 
  • ALD's can be used. This is a small microphone worn by the teacher That strengthens the sound going to the students hearing device. 
  • Note takers or Interpreter. The notetaker would write things in braille for the student, and the interpreter would use American Sign Language that the student can feel by touching their hands (as shown in the image above)

  • Many students who are deaf-blind have difficulty learning in a group setting. It is crucial for them to learn one on one or make activities individualized. If there is a group activity, teachers will need to have the child constantly active even during other student's turns. 
  •  Intervener Services
  • Different Curricula for the student, which is geared towards helping the student develop social skills like introductions, self esteem, and communication basics. 
  • When communicating with peers, there can be an ASL interpreter depending on the student's level of communication.
