Genome editing is an interesting idea. The fact that we can edit our bodies to make us more immune to diseases might make our civilization last longer. Genome editing can also change the genes of animals and plants so that they have modifications is also cool. Animals like mosquitos will stop carrying diseases and plants will have higher yields and won't die as fast. Our group thinks that even though genome editing is a thing far in the future, it is a good goal to work for.

Our group decided that we support gene editing/therapy, however, we do not support designer babies. We believe this because gene editing can stop genetic disorders/disease which can save many people with no major drawbacks. However, designer babies are extremely dangerous because of the risks that we may know. Also, if we change too much genes in babies those genes may mutate and be passed down in every generation, which may cause many outbreaks that cause genetic problems.

Overall, even though designer babies are very questionable, as long as gene therapy is used strictly and responsibly for genetic diseases, it is very beneficial. Source #2 it states, "reversed mutations that cause blindness, stopped cancer cells from multiplying, and made cells impervious to the virus that causes AIDS." This shows how gene therapy can mitigate and solve many genetic diseases.

We feel like genome editing should be used but under very certain circumstances. We think that it is great we can cure diseases using genome editing. Genome editing is great but it could become a big problem in the future. We feel like genome editing is great as long as it's being used for curing diseases. We also feel like genome editing should not be used to change eye color, hair color, etc. There is too much of a risk for not that large of a reward in our opinion. Overall, our group agrees that genome editing is very good.

In my teams opinion, we think genome editing can be beneficial and effective in certain areas, like genetic disorders and diseases. Gene editing can not only help in adulthood diseases but can even be used before a baby is born. Genome editing can modify plants and animals for selective breeding or to help more people live longer. However, there are some unethical parts of gene editing, like designer babies, that we don't completely agree with.

Group 2: It would be immoral to not unleash the power of gene editing onto the world because it would solve the problem of genetic diseases.

However, when trying to wipe out invasive species, the gene "drives" can infect other animals that are not invasive or not harmful. Also, designer babies can cause overpopulation, and we don't have the technology to go to other planets. So overall, it is a double edged sword and is too dangerous to unleash it to the world currently.

My group and I support the overall thought of the genome editing as a whole. This is because genome editing has many positive impacts on the sickened cells. Impacts could include taking out and repairing troubled diseases and helping put a stop to genetic diseases. However, we don't support the idea of designer babies because we feel that people are treated like a toy, rather than a living being.
---------------------------------------------
Group 5

Our group agreed for genome editing. However, we believe that genome editing should have regulations or limits to what people can do with genome editing. We agreed on genome editing because its beneficial to the people and other organisms. We recognized that there are consequences, but if it used carefully, it can help and benefit us.
