Kazakhstan is a presidential republic. The country has a council of ministers and a parliament. The president is elected by popular vote and is the commander of their armed forces. Nursultan Nazarbay was the first president elect and has held the title since the country declared its indpendence in 1991. Kazakhstan is still a young country.

https://www.hrw.org/world-report/2018/country-chapters/kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is in a bad position with human rights. They claim to be making human rights improvements but they are might even pass laws that further restrict free speech and freedom of religion. There have been multiple recent examples of police shutting down protests and imprisoning protesters on false charges. On many different occasions people have been arrested for practicing different religions too. Overall there is much room to improve in the country's human rights issues
https://www.hrw.org/europe/central-asia/kazakhstan

America has long been known as a land of freedom and opportunity. for generations families have came and started new lives in America. in less established countries like Kazakhstan the same freedoms are not guarenteed. The most popular religion in the country is Islam. There have been multiple instances of prosicution among members of different religions. They disguise these acts behind false charges. http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2017/may/jehovahs-witness-sentenced-to-prison-in-kazakhstan
