Conventions used/developed on front cover

On my front cover I used a headline and quite a few coverlines and included anchorage text and also a masthead I used san-serif type fonts which would attract a younger audience which is who my target audience is. I had a main image with my artists looking at the camera which would draw the audience in. I used a colour scheme of black blue and grey which is a convention of house music magazines because they're dark colours and they're also mostly unisex colours so it can appeal to males and females. I included the date and price to make the magazine more realistic. I challenged the convention by not including a pull quote or banner because I included them in my double page spread.

I challenged the convention by putting females on the cover of my magazine as house music magazines often use male artists to attract a male audience, by putting female artists on the cover of my magazine I can appeal to women as well as men to get them to read my magazine.

I included a main image and some smaller images of other artists on other pages. I continued my house style by using a smaller masthead and using the colours blue, black and grey. I also included the page numbers and sublines for articles. I Included 3 columns that follows the convention.

I challenged the conventions by not including a web address but I included a website on my double page spread and my front cover. I didn't include captions on my images and I didn't include contact information or an issue date.

I included an image on my double page spread and also a pull quote above the image. I wrote my text in columns and had a title above it and I included a byline underneath the article.

Conventions challenged on double page spread

I followed my house style but used a different colour background therefore challenging the convention slightly, however for the majority I followed all of the conventions of a double page spread.
