Even though many progresses were made through the last decades, we still need to evolve a lot more.

  • Women are still paid 20% less than men for responsible jobs ;
  • More than facing a wage difference, women have to deal with sexism in the workplace, resulting in moral or physical assault, which becomes harassment if repeated ;
  • Because of the stereotypes that persist in the workplace, women are less likely to be hired than some men for responsible jobs ;
  • Companies must train their employees on the risks of sexism in order to educate them so women can work in safe conditions ;

For exemple, women represented only 32% of the US workforce of Google in 2020.

Beyond sexism, employees have to face homophobia and racism, too often trivialized in many companies. It is important to remember that employees who witness those must warn their superiors and encourage victims to speak out.

The French court has obliged Amazon to stop selling non essential items during the COVID pandemic. By this new law, the goal is to protect Amazon's staff.
Contrary to other companies, Amazon didn't accept to put in place a strict protocol to protect their workers. Due to this non respect, Amazon is now forced to pay a fine of 100 000 euros.

Amazon didn't hesitate to react and express their discontent. Indeed, Amazon took their own defense saying that stopping selling non essential products is a big risk to take for the employees.

This has brought fear from the workers, because they are afraid to lose their job and want to re open some French centers.
