The estates general should not be held. It is unfair to the 3rd estate. They as a people have been punished too much. They are broke and cannot pay more. Nothing will happen nor can anything happen. I tried to communicate this to the King, but he dismissed it. He is out of his wits. They will argue forever, and the country will plunge evermore into debt. The oath is set in place, and the national assembly remains. I wrote the pamphlet, and people responded. Then we started meeting in this tennis court. I blew it. Everything was in my power, and I blew it. I said there were more antirevolutionaries and there were, but they were worried they were the antirevolutionaries.

Robespierre is a rat, but he is a successful rat. I have been sentenced to death, and that is that. Though I do not believe what Robespierre is doing is sustainable. At what point do you stop. At what point does it become too much. That is what Robespierre fails to grasp.
