We encourage Year 11 students to visit at least two colleges in advance of applications being made.  Application deadlines vary, but many are by end of December this year, so please do your best to make time to attend open events at any college you are considering.

Please arrange to meet your child at Reception, where they will accompany you to the Sports Hall.

For safeguarding reasons, we kindly ask that all attendees confirm their attendance in advance by emailing gwickens@chaileyschool.org. Unfortunately, we may not be able to admit parents or carers who arrive without prior notice.

  • Lewes Castle & Anne of Cleves House, Lewes: These two historic properties are offering free admission on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14. Lewes Castle is a Norman castle with a distinctive keep and zig-zag steps, offering great views of the town.

  • Harvest Festival & Barn Dance, The Five Bells, Chailey: On Saturday, September 13, The Five Bells is hosting a free, family-friendly community event. You'll find a vintage tractor and vehicle exhibition, tractor trailer rides for the kids, live music, and craft stalls.

  • Bodiam Castle, Robertsbridge: Bodiam Castle is offering free entry as part of Heritage Open Days on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14. This iconic medieval ruin is surrounded by a perfect moat, and families can explore its towers and grounds.

  • Standen House and Garden, East Grinstead: This Arts and Crafts-era home and garden is offering free entry to the house and garden on Saturday, September 13. It's a unique opportunity to explore the beautifully preserved interiors and then wander through the stunning hillside gardens and estate, seeing a prime example of late-Victorian design and craftsmanship.

  • Shoreham Fort, Shoreham-by-Sea: On Saturday, September 13, Shoreham Fort will be "bringing history to life." This is an excellent option for families interested in military history. The event features military vehicles, living history groups, and a chance to experience a World War One trench and an air raid shelter. It provides a hands-on, immersive look at the fort's past.
