He went there because he wanted to go to the South Pole.

Lewis and Clark took thier trip because they wanted to find another route to the Pacific Ocean. Scott took his trip because the British Government asked him to go on an expedition to the South Pole.
Lewis and Clark's adventure turned out okay because they learned about the west part of the United States of America. Scott's journey turned out bad and was horrible because Admunsen got to the South Pole before him, and Scott and his team died of a dangerous illness called hypothermia, which is caused by an abnormally low body temperature. One difference between Lewis, Clark, his team, and Scott and his team is that Lewis and Clark's journey was easier than Scott's. A quote that supports my claim is "There, they found that Amundsen had already planted the Norwegian flag. Bitterly disappointed, and already suffering from hypothermia and slow starvation, the team began its return trip. The temperature was 25 degrees below zero (about -3.89 Celsius degrees), and the wind was cruel.
Scott and the four other men died trying to get back to the base camp." This quote proves that Scott had a hard journey because first of all, he did not get there in time, and Admunsen got there first. Second of all, he and his team died a long, slow, painful, tragic death because they were nearly at the south pole, which is in Antarctica, and this place is the coldest place on earth. Becuase Antarctica is so cold, thier body temperature dropped down so low, they developed an illness, which is hypothermia, and this is why they died. Dying is part of their hard journey.
Another quote that supports the claim is "Along the way, they met up and worked with Native Americans, who knew the land and told the explorers what to eat and how they should proceedproceed.
Without this help, the explorers may not have survived."
This quote proves that Lewis and Clark and their team were going through some rough times, so they might not have made it. However, they did survive the adventure with the help of the Native Americans they met along the way. The Native Americans helped to navigate the team through the new, unknown land. This made their trip slightly easier because they knew where they were going. This is true because the Native Americans know the land, and if they knew the land, they would say what was true, not what they thought was true. This proof supports the rest of the claim because this shows that their trip was slightly easier. If Scott’s Journey was extremely hard, and Lewis and Clark’s journey was slightly easy, then there is a difference. In conclusion, one difference between Lewis and Clark and their team, and Scott and his team is that Lewis and Clark’s journey was easier than Scott’s.

One similarity between the two groups is that they are all adventurers. According to the text, In 1901, the British government asked Captain Robert Scott to lead an expedition to the Pole.” This quote proves that Scott to lead an expedition, and when you even go on an expedition, then you would be considered an adventurer. Another quote that supports my claim is “To scout out his so-called "Northwest Passage," Jefferson called on Meriwether Lewis (his secretary) and William Clark.” This quote proves that the president called on Lewis and Clark to go on an expedition, like Scott, to find the “Northwest Passage”. In conclusion, one similarity between the two groups is that they are all adventurers.

Lewis and Clark were explorers. Robert Scott was too. Both there journeys were alike. In the article Discovering Our World it says "In 1911, Scott tried again to reach the South Pole. He took a four-man team with him. The weather was very cold and the wind blew hard all of the time. It took a long time to get to the South Pole. But Scott and his men did get there. When they did, they found that someone else had gotten there first. This made them very sad." This shows that Robert Scott was getting his hopes up but then they came crashing down because he could not make it the first time so he thought he could make it the second time but, someone beat him to it. In the article Discovering Our World it says"Lewis and Clark formed a team of over 30 men. Some men were hunters to give them food. Others were to write about the plants and animals that they saw.The trip was very hard. Lewis and Clark got help from Native Americans The Native Americans knew the land. They told the explorers what to eat. They also told the explorers about the land ahead. The Native Americans were a big help. The explorers did not find a new way to Asia." This shows that, Lewis and Clark tried to find a new path to Asia a meet Native Americans that were a big help to Lewis and Clark but they did not find a new path to Asia. The things that are the same are that both did not get what they wanted and both involved men instead of woman. All in all,Lewis and Clark were explorers. Robert Scott was too. Both there journeys were alike.

Lewis,Clark and Robert Scott were explorers.

In both journeys of Lewis and Clark, and Robert Scott there are simmalarities and differentces. In the text ''Western Expantions: Discovering Our World "it says'' Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore the west side of the country. Also the trip didn't turn out well they failed to complete there main goal, to find a river that led to the Pacific Ocean. This proves the trip did not turn out so well because they failed to reach there goal.

The journey of Robert Scott wasn't a success either. The text says "Robert Scott wanted to beat Roald Admunsen a Norway fellow to Antarctica. They both left October 1911 but took different routes and made stops along the way. Roald and his crew were used to the cold and dog sleds Roald beat Scott to the pole.'' This shows Roald was going to beat Scott to the pole.

One way that Lewis and Clark's journey and Robert Scott's journey were alike was that they both explored land that no other explorer has found before, although both failed to meet their goal. Lewis and Clark explored weat U.S.A., but failed trying to find a river that led to the Pacific. Meanwhile, Scott reached the South Pole, but failed to beat Roald Amundsen, his competition. Two examples from the article are "Scott's team reached the Pole. There they found that Amundsen had already planted the Norwegian flag." and "The team failed to reach its main goal—to find a river that led to the Pacific. Still, the Corps did reveal helpful information about native plants and animals, and it broadened U.S. knowledge of the west." These quotes explain that even thought these explorers failed to meet their goal, they still made a difference. To sum things up, Lewis and Clark's journey and Robert Scott's journey were alike in a way.

One way that Lewis and Clark's journey and Robert Scott's journey were different was that Scott was trying to beat someone somewhere, while Lewis and Clark were exploring on the president's orders. Two examples from the article are "In 1911, Scott led another expedition to the Pole, but this time, he had competition. Explorer Roald Amundsen of Norway set off on his own trek to the Pole." and "President Thomas Jefferson was eager to explore the western part of the continent. To scout out his so-called "Northwest Passage," Jefferson called on Meriwether Lewis (his secretary) and William Clark." These quotes show that Lewis and Clark and Robert Scott were called to explore in different ways.

In the text, "Westward Expansion: Discovering Our World" there are both simalarities and differences between the journeys of explorers Lewis and Clark and Robert Scott. They are simaler because, they both were very dangerous journeys and none of the explorers truly knew what to expect along the way. As outlined in the article, during Robert Scott's expedition to the South Pole, his team ran out of food and were not prepared to survive the bitter cold conditions. Similarly, Lewis and Clark's journey west of the Mississippi River was also risky. According to the text, "Even with all of this preparation, the trip was extremely difficult. The team came across wildlife they had not expected to find. They also did not know which plants could be eaten". This proves that both journeys were extremely dangerous and none of the explorers knew what to expect during their travels.

In contrast, the explorers Lewis and Clark's and Robert Scott's journeys had many differences. The first two key differences are who the explorers were working for and where they were going. Robert Scott was asked by the British Government to lead an expedition to the South Pole. Lewis and Clark, on the other hand, were asked by the U.S. government to lead an expedition westward to find a more direct water route to Asia. In addition to these, a final key difference is how the journeys ended. According to the text, Robert's men were "...already suffering from severe cold and beginning to starve...the temperatures were as low as 25 below zero (about -3.89 Celsius degrees). The wind was cruel. Scott and the four men on his team died trying to hike the over 800 miles (about 1,287.48 kilometers) back to camp." For Lewis and Clark, the journey ended quite differently, with the explorers coming home alive even though they knew nothing about the land they were exploring. " Along the way, they asked for help from Native Americans. These natives knew the land and told the explorers what to eat and what they could expect ahead. Without this help, the explorers might not have survived". This proves that the journeys ended very differently. As you can see, both Robert Scott's journey and Lewis and Clark's journeys began and ended very differently.

Lewis and Clark and Robert Scott were explorers. One way their journeys were alike were that they were both going on a very hard adventure. A quote from the text says that: "They had to turn back 410 miles (about 659.83 kilometers) from the Pole. Still, they knew that no one had gone so far south before. In 1911, Scott tried again to reach the South Pole. This quote proves that Robert Scott traveled a long, and extreme trip. Another quote freom the text says: " He was sure that there was a faster route to Asia. This would let the U.S. trade with that part of the world. To find this route, Jefferson chose Meriwether Lewis and William Clark." This quote proves that they had to travel ALL THE WAY TO ASIA. That would be a REALLY hard adventure.

This shows that they are different because Robert Scott was more confident he didn't need a big team. A way that there alike is they both traveled to unknown far places. This proves they are the same because they are both adventurous. All in all Lewis and Clark and Robert Scott are alike and different in many ways.

Robert Scott took a journey to the South Pole. He did that presumably because he wanted to set the record of the farthest down south ever gone before. Another way is that people around the world in different countries wanted for someone to go set the record, too. Scott had competition. Roald Amundsen of Norway was more experienced than Scott, and he knew how to train with sled dogs. He also set up other little food supplies along the way down so they had something to eat there.Scott, on the other hand, was not experienced, and he only had ponies, which can't cope well in the severe cold and all of the blizzards. Amundsen got to the South Pole first, and he placed the flag of Norway on the South Pole. Scott got there too, but he saw that he had been beaten there. Defeated, Scott and the four other men traveled back home, hoping to not have harsh response to failure. They sadly died on the way back- yes, all five of them, including Scott himself. I know this from when the article said "The teams left within a week of each other, but Amundsen's team reached the Pole first. Over 30 days later, on January 17, 1912, Scott's team reached the Pole. There, they found that Amundsen had already planted the Norwegian flag.Bitterly disappointed, and already suffering from hypothermia and slow starvation, the team began its return trip. The temperature was 25 degrees below zero (about -3.89 Celsius degrees), and the wind was cruel. Scott and the four other men died trying to get back to the base camp." This teaches that Scott had died along with the four men that traveled with him.

Lewis and Clark made the expedition to find places where the growing country (America) could expand to and settle in.They did this to help America grow, they only had so many states to live in, even with the growing population. They traveled far West and encountered Sacagawea and Charbonneau. They helped them find the right places to stay camp at and the best way through the mountains. Only one person of the Corps Of Discovery died, which proves that they were still surviving. When they finally made it back, they were treated like heroes, which they were, they found all of the land that would soon be Texas, Arizona, California, ect. I know this because of when the text stated "Along the way, they met up and worked with Native Americans, who knew the land and told the explorers what to eat and how they should proceed. Without this help, the explorers may not have survived." That proves that the Native Americans really helped Lewis and Clark get through the hardest places, like the Rocky Mountains. They would have died without the help of Native Americans.

This proves Roald Amundsen went south to the the pole and the Lewis and Clark expedition went west to discover the other side of the US.
