Rockefeller built is empire in 1870 and by becoming such a influential businessman made Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company, which dominated the oil industry and was the first great U.S. business trust. Later in life he turned his attention to charity. He made possible the founding of the University of Chicago and endowed major philanthropic institutions.</div>]]></description>

He later improved on his invention by adding a QWERTY keyboard, which would make the machine even easier to use. The typewriter allowed for more efficiency in shorthand, and eventually became a symbol of the American woman worker, as secretaries all over the country began using them. Clerical work defined women workers, and the typewriter became the main tool, or machine, that those women used in their “production.”</div>]]></description>
