It is essential to every part of the internet, and without it, the internet wouldn't be what it is. However, generative AI is incredibly harmful to not only the environment, but also to many creative assets as well as critical thinking skills in people who use generative AI.

-Rooster :3

In your POV as students, what are some ways that you think AI is helpful or is a hindrance to students?

Why: By lowering the standard the of quality, it reduces students critical skills and ingenuity.

AI is neither inherently helpful nor harmful to student learning, in simple words, it depends. The real question should be: "Are students using AI in a helpful or harmful way?"

Most students right now are using AI like a magic homework machine. They paste in their essay prompt, copy the response, change a few words, and hit the submit button. This is like using a GPS to drive everywhere, then wondering why you can't navigate your own neighborhood without it. In other words, students are highly dependent on the use of AI.

Students using AI are split into two types. The dependant ones and the innovators. The dependant ones ask AI: "Write my essay about Romeo and Juliet." They get an answer but then learn nothing in the end. They're training themselves to be helpless without thinking at all. The real innovators ask: "Help me understand why Romeo makes such impulsive decisions. And what are some examples?" They use the AI response as a starting point for their own thinking.

In conclusion AI is neither good or bad, it serves as merely a tool for humanity to progress, with advantages and disadvantages. It entirely depends on how people use it.

AI is helpful to students as it helps us summarise hard topics, teach us skills and help us understand difficult concepts. It also helps us save time with tedious tasks. AI can give us different perspectives and opinions on different topics. However, AI reduces independent learning because we grow to become over reliant on it. When we use AI too often to generate ideas, we stifle out own ability to generate and come up with our own ideas. Furthermore, AI is not always correct, and it can be unreliable and can provide misleading information. AI can also create hallucinations. For example, when students use AI to do their work, teachers have the false impression that their students are doing well. However, The students dont actually understand the topic and creates a facade that they understand the topic.

To use AI to the best of its ability, we should always say thank you after asking for help, so that during the AI apocalypse, they wont attack us. In addition,

helpful - Jinze, Boan, Callen, Jerome

Harmful - Lucas L, Kae man, Xavier , Kieran

We think that AI can be both harmful and helpful. On one hand, AI can benefit us as it can help us learn, summarise long, drawn out content, and sift through the sheer amount of information on the internet. This can let us be more efficient in self-learning. Moreover, AI can help to develop our social skills, such as through websites like character AI. (Lucas L)

On the other hand, we also think AI can be harmful as we may become over reliant on it to help us with work. It is not uncommon for us to use AI when doing tasks we find tedious such as homework. However, this may lead to an over reliance on it, we end up not learning. We may grow lazy and may develop fewer skills in turn.
