After a major project, the students are asked to look back and see how they approached the task and how they used the elements of art and principles of design to solve the visual arts question.

The students are asked to create a reflective paragraph at the end of an art lesson.  This year I had them come up with criteria that they would use to evaluate a work of art and explain why they made their choices.  Then they critique their own work utilizing the criteria that they mentioned in the first paragraph.

Have students think about the visual image.  Have them describe what they see, what they feel, what they smell, what they taste  through the visual image that they are seeing in their mind.  Validate the image as it will be different for all of your students.  The image will vary according to the experiences of the student and their  understanding.  Works well with fiction, poetry, lyrics,.....

Current Assignment: Business letter.Students are given a template of a business letter, but they are given a topic that is to be shared with patients of their medical practice.While creating this letter, students should be asking themselves who their audience is, why their creating this letter, what is the purpose of the letter, and how can they best organize their ideas.Once they finish their letter, I want them to ask themselves if it looks professional and understandable enough to trust your health with this medical practice.Then students would edit and adjust their letter to meet the qualities of an effective business letter.

Students attempt a warm-up exercise from a past unit in blue ink pen. We then review the correct solution and make corrections in a green ink pen. After error analysis students reflect in complete sentences about their level of mastery and plan on how to avoid that particular mistake in the future.
