Integrated learning promotes skills in collaboration, critical thinking resulting in deeper knowledge (Brady, 2014; Gilbert &amp; Hoepper, 2014).</div><div><br>Integrated lessons compliment student-focused teaching strategies to facilitate active learning and development especially if the experiences are personal, relevant and meaningful (Brady, 2014).<br><br>&nbsp;Integrated learning is a child-centred, more relevant and meaningful way of developing understanding across a range of social, cultural, economic and political contexts (Brady, 2014).<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Australian Curriculum, based on the goals set out in the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians and the Shape of the Australian Curriculum document, proposes general capabilities for learning that encompass behaviours, skills, knowledge and dispositions will assist young Australians to successfully interact and contribute to society in the twenty first century (Gilbert &amp; Hoepper, 2014; Westwell, n.d.).&nbsp; Hanlon (2004) suggests that by developing social, emotional and cognitive general capabilities proposed by the Australian Curriculum students will become successful learners as they:</div><ul><li>Collect analyse and organise information</li><li>Communicate ideas and information</li><li>Plan and organise activities</li><li>Work with others</li><li>Use mathematical ideas and techniques</li><li>Solve problems</li><li>Use technology</li></ul><div>(Bolstad et al., 2012; Gordon, 2014).</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
