Integrated lessons compliment student-focused teaching strategies to facilitate active learning and development especially if the experiences are personal, relevant and meaningful (Brady, 2014).

 Integrated learning is a child-centred, more relevant and meaningful way of developing understanding across a range of social, cultural, economic and political contexts (Brady, 2014).
