Ideal collaboration looks like an achievement by a group of people who are able to work together nicely.

Empathy is beyond sympathy, which is having understanding another person's feelings, and is to the extreme of actually sharing another's emotions (e.g. feeling happy because a friend is happy).

Empathy looks like mirrored emotions on two people's faces.

Critical inquiry pushes the inquirer to connect the subject to the world around them, and to find connections that can not be seen at face value.

Collaboration involves a mutual agreement between two or more people to use each person's individual strengths to add to the task as a whole.

Collaboration looks like a lot of inter-personal conversations and calm discourse, without heated arguments. Emotions should not be forced on to other people, but instead poured into the project. Collaboration looks better than non-collaboration.

Empathy is to connect with the emotions of another through past or present experiences with that same emotion.

Empathy changes from person to person, depending on how those people connect with each other.
