According to Carla Ricaurte’s tourism system, all components governance, infrastructure, supply, attractions, demand, and host community must be aligned and functional. In Engabao, key components such as infrastructure (roads, lodging, cleanliness), service quality, and activity regulation are not fully developed. Promoting an underprepared destination may result in negative tourist experiences, low satisfaction, and long-term reputational damage.

While the local community is motivated and open to tourism, promoting Engabao before it is fully prepared could harm both visitors and locals. Ethical tourism marketing should reflect the true conditions of the destination, ensuring a positive and sustainable tourist experience.

As a recommendation, it should also develop a sustainable tourism plan with a community-based approach.

Although, realisticly Engabao should not yet be promoted as a touristic destination until basic conditions are improved. Although it has strong potential due to its natural attractions and the community's willingness to receive visitors, the current lack of infrastructure, pollution, untrained service providers, and absence of regulation could result in a poor visitor experience.

What consequences might arise, and how does it relate to the Model Stages of Consumption?
Promoting Engabao without solving these issues can create negative disconfirmation. In the pre-consumption stage, young travelers might expect relaxation and contact with nature. But in the consumption stage, they may face poor hygiene, limited services, and disorganization. In the post-consumption stage, the evaluation could result in negative word-of-mouth, dissatisfaction, and a damaged image for the destination.
To ensure sustainable tourism, Engabao must first improve infrastructure, train local service providers, and develop regulations, so future demand aligns with a positive, high-quality experience. After this, yes, it should be promoted.

However, it has strong potential if developed in a sustainable and well-planned way.

Premature promotion could lead to negative consequences such as tourist dissatisfaction, environmental degradation, damage to the destination’s reputation, and local disorganization.

In Engabao's case, promoting the destination without addressing its deficiencies can lead to negative disconfirmation, when the actual experience during the consumption stage falls short of the expectations formed during pre-consumption. This mismatch results in tourist dissatisfaction and negative post-consumption outcomes, such as complaints, poor reviews, and a damaged destination image.

The existing deficiencies may cause discomfort and harm the overall tourist experience. As a result, visitors are likely to experience negative disconfirmation, meaning their expectations would not be met. This would reduce the chances of them returning and lower the likelihood of recommending the place to others.

Instead of ignoring these issues, it is essential to recognize them and work on improvements. Only by doing so can a quality tourist experience be offered one that meets or even exceeds visitors' expectations, which is key for achieving a positive evaluation within the stages of the Model of Consumption.

Group 6

Names: Luisa Parrales, Lilibeth Santillán, Daniela Quezada.

We believe that it is not currently possible to promote Engabao as a consolidated tourist destination. As discussed in class, the tourism system depends on the interrelationship between various elements. Although the host community shows a favorable attitude towards tourism, there are still deficiencies in key aspects such as infrastructure, tourism supply and the state of the attractions. These components need to be improved in order for the destination to operate in optimal conditions.

In other words, not all elements of the tourism system are aligned. This directly affects the stages of the tourism consumption model, from planning to final evaluation, generating negative perceptions that reduce the probability of return or recommendation.

However, if improvements are implemented in these aspects, Engabao has the potential to position itself as an attractive place for visitors.

What consequences might bring the promotion of Engabao based on the situation described and how does it connects with # Model Stages of Consumption?

Promoting Engabao without proper planning could generate negative effects, especially when considering the Three Stages of Consumption Model. If the destination does not have infrastructure, quality services or an organized tourism offer, visitors may discard it from the planning stage. During the visit, deficiencies such as lack of training or pollution can affect the experience. And after the trip, these failures can translate into bad reviews and lower recommendations. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen tourism offerings and services before launching promotional campaigns.
