Outstanding Cookbook called: Treasures of the Mexican Table by Pati Jinich. I feel that cookbooks do have the power to connect others, learn traditions, and create a sense of community. I personally enjoy this book and I feel it is helped me understand more about the ingredients and dishes most of my students would be more familiar with. And it's pretty delicious.

Excellent cookbook with a variety of foods and with Polish Roots. It helps me connect to foods that my ancestors ate. I do not know much about Polish cuisine and I enjoy learning. Called: Antoni in the Kitchen y Antoni Porowski

The Marrow Thieves would be a great book to explore Canadian Indigenous peoples. This book would allow my students to connect to other people who may have family or they ae themselves indigenous peoples of the Americas. This story also focuses on the importance of keeping a culture alive to pass down to the next generation.

This would be a wonderful book stare with my students because I know that all of my students could relate. Also, I can tell some of my students are potentially out of "gender norms". We all of friends and family who are perceived out of our strict society norms. Their story is meant to be told and not be left out for the teenagers I serve.

Unbroken: 13 Stories Starring Disabled Teens

I am pleased to find a story about students with physical disabilities and really have a discussion of "ableism". Currently, I have student who ambulates with a wheelchair bound and is really struggling with "fitting in" to the point the parents are removing student from school. I have had many students with wheelchairs and I feel that with the support, these resilient students can only grow from their experiences. I would love to share a book like it i my class.

The Outsiders (Paperback) by S. E. Hinton

Excellent book about two rival gangs in a small town in Oklahoma. This book connects to many of my students who have their lives intertwined with gang culture. This book has the theme of coming of age and many similar conflicts that teenagers face today.
