We think that he/she wrote the passage to give us a heads up on how lucky we are. Sometimes people say that the school is bad but really the bad school was back then in the 1800’s so the author wrote this passage to show and remind us how lucky we are. The text says that modern days the kids are  divided into classrooms based on age and grade .  It also  says that there was one room buildings back then and modern days there are lots of room buildings.  I don’t know if a female teacher got married back then she was expected to quit her job so she could focus on maintaining her household.  Nowadays the teachers are male and a female.  Sometimes If there weren’t enough teachers they would have to get more advanced students to teach.
