I would put the poster on the door so everyone felt welcome before entering. I have included nursery rhymes, colours, numbers and dual language books. It is good to have a language of the month display as this makes children aware of other countries and different languages others may have that come into the setting. It will broaden the knowledge of monolingual children and give the parents opportunities to be involved in their children’s learning. This couldn’t prove when bringing particular items from that country into the setting for children to explore. It will also create a welcoming environment for children of that country coming into the setting as they will recognise some aspects of their language and culture. If I was to complete this board again, I would include common words and phrases they aren’t used to such as hello and goodbye.
