Would you consider yourself knowledgeable in healthy eating?

I wouldn't consider myself knowledgeable

4. How would you define a “healthy meal”?

Carbohydrates, Protein, Fats

5. Do you have difficulties finding healthy food in Singapore?

Yes! Most of them are expensive or located within city area

6. How much would you pay for a healthy meal?

$7-10 for a proper meal

7. What is the biggest challenge you face about healthy eating?

Consistency.

8. Why is this a challenge for you? Can you elaborate more about it?

Because of how hard it is to find for the food, plus the fact that it is not as affordable as regular food, I often give up after 1 or 2 tries, so I can't keep up with eating healthy meals on a regular basis.

9. When was the last time you tried to solve this problem?

I tried to make food from home within the last month to bring to work but it is a hassle and I gave up.

10. How do you stay on a healthy diet with regards to your lifestyle? Is it working? Why / Why not?
[current solution]

Well currently I'm trying my best to adjust my carb/protein: fat ratio. Since fats have about double the calories of carbs or protein, it's important for me to control my fat intake, especially due to my health issues. I am also constantly on the lookout for finding other replacements to white rice, so at the moment I am eating Thai red rice. Hmm I can't tell whether it is working or not yet since I only started about 2 weeks ago.

11. What isn’t ideal about your current solution?
[differentiation]

The biggest con would be that I am doing it alone. My family would be having their meals and mine would be different from theirs, so I would be tempted to give up. In other words, it's hard to keep up the motivation.

12. Do you think it's a problem for you not to have access to healthy food? Why / why not?

Yes it definitely is! I understand that living in Singapore inevitably results in high costs of everything including food. However, we are humans too and we shouldn't have to always resort to eating hawker centre food/fast food/ instant meals. Just like us Singaporeans, everyone else in the world has a busy life too. So what is it really that's making it difficult for us to successfully motivate our people to lead healthier lifestyles? I hope we could all have access to healthy affordable food that's accessible as well

Would you consider yourself knowledgeable in healthy eating?
Yes, i have taken steps to improve my health, and one of the steps is to change my diet. Others are things like going on walks and hikes.

4. How would you define a “healthy meal”?
A healthy meal contains low oil and salt, ingredients are normally steamed.

5. Do you have difficulties finding healthy food in Singapore?
Yes, my workplace is near hawker centres and its very hard to find healthy food. Whenever possible, i will to prep meals in advance and bring them to work.

6. How much would you pay for a healthy meal?
Probably between $8 to $12 max

7. What is the biggest challenge you face about healthy eating?
The first challenge is that its hard to find tasty healthy food due to the limited options.
The second challenge is that there really no time to find or prepare them

8. Why is this a challenge for you? Can you elaborate more about it?
For the limited options challenge, i feel that its because hawker centres generally dont have these options and that healthy food like salad joints are too far from my area.

The timing issue is more on my packed schedule, i usually have back to back meetings so i will grab a quick bite whenever i can.

9. When was the last time you tried to solve this problem?
2 years ago, i realized that as i become older i needed to watch my diet to prevent any medical illnesses.

10. How do you stay on a healthy diet with regards to your lifestyle? Is it working? Why / Why not?
[current solution]
As mentioned earlier, i try my best to prep meals in advance. Why / why not?
Yes, i worry about the health problems i may face if i do not take care of my body. Having healthy food allows me to eat a balanced and healthy diet. I also read somewhere that mentioned to be healthy it all starts with the diet. You can workout as much as you want but as long as you eat unhealthy foods, there is not gonna be much change
